hi guys


i've been reading some of these running PBEM battles and it looks like alot of fun

i've never played PBEM games before, how does it work? is it like normal single player? how do you handle Op fire?

It's always good to see new people get involved.

Jess is a real pro...so watch out for him.
He has that "go for the throat" attitude when he fights. No mercy....as you can see, he has this terrible urge to kill me for some reason.

Op fire is automatic in PBEM games, so carefully pick the ranges for your units, as they will fire on enemy units at the set range.

as for nations to be, he can be Germany sure but i want to be Italy (i hope we do early war, so i have a chance at good equipment )

as for the long haul, yea i'll be here, i registered over a year ago and only posted alittle, mostly i just read the forums every few days, but i've gotten back into playing SP:WaW and i thought it would be good to return here

pbem looks like alot of fun (especially after reading some of those 'battle reports' )

I stongly recommend not taking Italy. I played against them and they have nice equipment but they are terrible. They never rally and quite often just will not fire, or so my opponent told me. We had a meeting engagment between British and Italy which ended with a DV for me as the British after five turns!

So a word to the wise if you don't want to end up with a bad taste in your mouth take one of the major countries to start.

is like France of 1940 and Russia of 1939.
These countries have very poor morale (although Russia is not as bad...but still no match for Finns/Poles/Germans in 1939) and very hard to control.
Gary is also right in saying their combat factors leave a lot to be desired. For once they get hit hard and take surpression points... you will see them flee the scene rather than shoot back. And God help you when they go to routed status!
On the flip side...it is a challenge. Good luck.

hmm i was looking for a good early war game to start off with but if Jess wants to play some thing alittle later i'll be happy to play as Germany or Russia :)
