BOB: Me-109s E1-E4 Shouldn't fly past London.

Post by Rusty1961 »

Given that 109s prior to E-7s can fly and kick butt as far as Wittering (which is closer to Coventry than it is to London), this should be changed.

The early E versions of the 109 couldn't do it. Maybe if they only flew at crusing speed, but even that is a horrifically far stretch of the immagination.

109 manuverability should be degraded with range also. Many 109s ditched in the channel due to fuel depletions. [&:]

If someone has information that counters this point I'm all ears.
God made man, but Sam Colt made them equal.

yupp, I reconed the same. saw 109E 1s flying 100 miles north of London.

Unrealistic, their range was just beyond London and then they had to return to base or get some wet feet because out of fuel.

that is based on doctrine, not on the plane

those planes that ditched, if the pilot got back, he would say, he screwed up, if he didn't, his mates would say he screwed up

but, if they are flying 100 miles past London, it is because they are being allowed to
