Thinking of the next patch

Post by Anraz »

While the last patch was released two day ago it is high time to think of another patch. Since game is very stable we would like to address minor glitches (if you spot any) also to tune the game balance (however here is a hook since some players like AI aggressiveness and other say that it is too active for their taste). Next points on the list are: adding/improving of AI scripts (partly on player’s request), new events (especially on player`s request) and OOB corrections (I glad that so for there are mot many comments regarding OOB, but still we are open for your suggestions) . For sure there will be a list of sunk ships as it is one of the most requested features. Also we will try to tune some windows. Finally I seek for yo ur council considering the patch.

BTW before to patch will be out as a beta, we are going to publish an improved version of the editor. Stay tuned :)

A useful option would be a "quiet China" scenario option like there is in WITP-AE. Many players just want to play US vs japan. Of course means would have to be taken to ensure that Japan does not exploit this to move too many units out of China.

Been mentioned before, but in the unit management lists add the position of land and air units, as it does for naval units. I am not sure about the comments on aggressive Japanese AI, I know you have easy and hard settings, but could there be options on how aggressive, cautious, or defensive, etc. the AI strategy could be ? This is great news for me, since I am currently trying to learn how to use the editor.

So far I have noticed is it more suited for editing existing scenarios.

Maybe you could rename it SCENARIO BUILDER/EDITOR, so that the user could create cities from within the editor for example.

I believe the same would hold true for sea zones.

I don't know how involved this would be for you, but it would make me a very happy camper.

Make sure that the AI repairs its ships.

In the mini-scenarios, add regimental differentiation, eg true artillery units, with ranged bombardment capability.

Beachhead landings are too easy to carry out right now, because it is possible to embark, move, and disembark amphibious assault craft in one turn. The enemy gets no opportunity to do recon and air strike or surface battle against such invasion ships.

1) Either do not allow amphibious units to embark in the same turn they move;

or

2) implement percentage chance of interception for amphibious assaults, IF the enemy has air or naval units in that zone.

Agree on ship repairs and an artillery unit. A naval supply option would be an interesting step up - much bigger than a patch I suspect!
Tab between air units and naval units.

Hybrid counter choice (as in ToW) - I'd prefer pictures for aircraft and ships and nato symbols for ground forces - pretty task forces steaming through sea area would be great!

Don´t know if this was mentioned before, but i´m thinking about wether it would be possible to implement weather effects for sea zones. E.g. Rain, Storm etc. could reduce the chance of succesful Recon or Air Strikes, or influence the effectivness of naval battles. Also imaginable are weather effects for amphibious landings. E.g. Rain = more casualties when disembarking ("Rain" as combat modifier for defenders)=, Storm = no landing possible etc.

Generally i would like to see more "eye candy". Add some pics to the naval batlle screen to increase the immersion for example.

And yes, a list covering all the losses dealt & taken would be cool.

How about "thinking about the demo"? You might get some additional feedback, not to mention the potential increased sales.

I know this is a rather banal request, please make F5 the unit names on/off hotkey instead of AP remaining.

1) Make a convoy nessary to move the raw resources back to Japan and not just supplys to the front. It was a two way street and Japans weak spot.
2) Japan should build some heavy ships.
3) As with the European sister game as well, maybe a way to build factorys. Say 25 production points to add 1 factory point after a certain build time.
4) A way to improve ports as well. Or add a buildable AA value to a hex. Even Air Defence Technology to go along with it.
5) An engineers unit for building fortifications, RR building to build your own stratecic movement network in addition to the cities. All costing PP to build and turns to construct. The Engineer unit might cost more than a para unit as well and construct faster for each level of Art just like inf.
6) Add an airfield symbol to islands offshore like the port symbol that would only be able to house air units, a way to get around stacking and give those 1 hex islands both air & land forces.
7) Be able to expand the production of resources in the same fashion as factories above. Steel foundry expansion for example.
8) QUESTION, what is the need to buy a Corps level unit with longer build time if I can just build a division and then upgrade it to a corps?
9) QUESTION, why is the cost of a level 1 tactical the same as a level 2 unit?
10) A screen that would let you locate where & what unit a Leder is assigned to and not have to search all over for him. Maybe as well an astrisk after a ships name in a fleet to denote the presents of a leder.
11) Just for grins a battlecruser group.
12) Most likely the hardest; a drop down box by countries at the same point we select the difficulty level at the beginning of a game that could set the nation's leader mode. Examples: Hell bent expansionist, infrastructure & balance, Tech & builder, Economist (If we could expand factories, resources & ports). Or several settings to help mod AI scripts by other means.
11) could even add negotiating between the Japanese and the several chinese factions for peace bought for with PP for a price of PP's per turn. Even get desparate and buy Russian non-involvement in PP's per turn or month in that case. Some of the Chinese front was indeed very quiet through much of the war.

The demo is on its way to release. Initial build is ready so give us a couple more days. We don`t afraid of demos ;)

9) It will be cured in the next patch.

I would Like to see the EDITOR moved outside the game as a separate install and let the user choose the default File Open and Save path.

Any chance of seeing a true 1280x1024 resolution fix on the windowed mode so it can fit the whole screen rather
than being cut off at the bottom. The lower resolution x960 is ok but 1024 is crisper.

Thanks
