Revised Counter Mod

Post by cbelva »

Here is another mod for review. I like the counter set that came with the game except for the air and naval units. I have reworked the counter to display aircraft and naval vessels. I am not artistic so be kind. You will note that I switched the blue color for the USA to a green which I like better. The set is not complete, but progress is slow but steady.

Try to add stroke line to those units shapes so they stands out more.
If you have any questions - ask :)

Ok, I will ask. How do you add a stroke line?
Thanks.

You can draw it by yourself or use build-in function in your graphic program (if there is one, I don't know what program are you using).

Can you give me an idea of what that function might be called so I know what I am looking for. I am using an older version of Paint Shop Pro.

I just upgraded from PSP 6.02 to PSP 7.0 (Bwahahahahaha!!) [:D]

I suspect that you may need to look at creating that line in VECTOR graphics (which is a tick-box under Tool Options when creating a line.)
Of course, with aircraft and elliptical wings, you may also find Bezier Curves (also as vectors) worth investigating, too.

Ok, here are some revised counters for comment. Please be kind. As I said above, I am not artistic and I am fairly inexperienced with graphic programs. I am using PSP7. Thanks for your help/advise.

Good effort, any new work is to be applauded and supported.
All I would suggest is you try blurring the plane symbols, they would look better with a smoother diagonal line, rather than look like they were constructed from Lego, (pixelated).
only other question would be whether the Battleship proportions need to be tweaked.
Is it too symmetrical?
Is it too tall?
Keep up the efforts, nothing more fun than playing with your own mod.

The "blurring" of the aircraft outline can (might be) accomplished with "anti-aliasing" - another option brought to you by the friendly folk at JASC Software (now buried by Photoshop - damn them!)

Awesome. The ships and planes especially are a big improvement over what the game offers.

I think it would be better to use a dark color for the symbols of planes and ships.

You see that logo? They're all white in the game. Maybe a dark brown or black. Brown would be good, but I'm sure it conflicts the light tan counters.
