What's the Best CC Game for Newbie

What's the Best CC Game for Newbie

Although I've been around since the first release of CC, I haven't played any of them. My question is this:
  • If you were a newbie, which game in the series would you start with (i have a preference for the eastern front more because they are fewer games focused on it versus the plethora of D-Day/Western Front games)
  • If you were to rank them (which ones would you rate your favorite and least favorite)

I have two favourites

Coi and WaR

CoI because of the MMCC3 addon and easy battle generation on custon maps

WaR because of the expansive Strategic (operational) layer where you have strategic options and can actually employ a double envelopment.


tLd and LSA both have skinny (historical) strategic maps so your options are limited.


tLD and LSA both benefit from more advanced game mechanics and features eg. night battles, windowed mode, Battle Group stacking/pass through

I'd lean towards COI for beginners because then you don't have to deal with the strategic layer.
