InGame Edits

Post by Tomokatu »

Two of us recently started a PBEM game with one major faction (Axis) and lots of the smaller neutrals set to AI-Very Easy +100%PPs.
A third player approached us to take over the Axis faction and I wanted to re-set that economy from AI-Very Easy +100% to Human - Normal +0%PPs.
The economy doesn't show on the F11/12 sub-screen.

Is it possible to edit one of the moddable files in such a circumstance to re-set the economy rate? Does this present any adverse issues interacting with the other moddable files?

The question is academic because we started off a completely new game anyway but I'd like to know for future reference.

Bumping this enquiry because it looks as though a third human player now wants to take over the AI Germany. German AI has had the advantage of 200% PPs ("very Easy") but neither myself nor our second player believe that a human Germany should have this massive advantage.

So I ask again.

What line(s) of what file(s) should I edit to re-set the German economy back to "Normal", please?

You have to edit countries.csv file and edit entry in column 'AZ'.

I don't have the game with me at the moment, but you might want to check couldn't it be changed when loading a saved game.

Thank you Doomie.
As it happens, I didn't have a spreadsheet proggie to start with (and don't really need a full-functioned one) so I've grabbed a small freeware one.

However, my follow-up question (open to all modders) is this.

Is there any problem within the game if I do a global search and replace of all semi-colons to commas (this program takes comma-separated values quite seriously) and then use the comma modded countries.csv in the game?

Yes! Big problems if you try this.

If you like I will send you a program I wrote which you can do the mods with. It is nothing special, but works.

Otherwise make a backup, change to commas, mod the files, then change back to semicolons.

OOO-EERR!! Yes Please [&o] (Tomo sits up begs, wags tail - no wait, that's what a dog does - umm... Tomo looks cool [8D] and washes behind his ears, instead)

What do you need? An email address? I can PM one to you or go to your ftp site or whatever.

Tomo waits for instructions.

I was REALLY having trouble with the csv file. The spread32.exe program insisted on importing all the values into the first cell no matter what the separator was or whether the "Open" file was selected as a csv or xls or - (it didn't DO TAB-separated) but it was unreadable.

Please PM me an email address that can accept a zip file with an exe in it. The program is working as far as I know, but i would be delighted to get input about it from another user.
