Organisation of the Mods.....

Post by Uffz Feuerhake »

Hi there,

sorry, I am looking for a level of organisation in your listed mods...I don't want to hurt someone, but it seems to me that the first ineluctable "chaos phase" of a new forum is not completed.

1.) F.e. "Reichenberg" contents 10 different attachements and a bouquet of individual pros and contras...
PrinzHenrich said there [...] It will be but none will play it beside you and me.... ...is that an aim or only a situation between two modders like PrinzHenrich and JackX?

When I am looking f.e. for a swedish syw-battle....I can not find a thread with "New units - sweden / New units - XYZ...and I can not find a thread "New battles" ....but I have to look between dozens of pros and contras and examples and counterexamples.

When I am looking on the clicks and counting the active members I fear it is not easy for the community to "jump on the modding train"

What do you think about pure download threads? (New units / New sounds / New buildings / New scenarios / New don't know....)

Constructive Greetings

-Little example of a pure download thread -

Uffz,
The Reichenberg scenario have 10 version because we (I and JackX) try do it best we can, and both have different view how it should look like.
You want play swedish scenario yet, because it is temp/or/nonrelease version which shall apear in Volume II, Swedish troops haven't avaible yet for anyone beside me and Magnus (and other beta tester which dowload them). If you want to have finall version of any scenario  -just email me!
I have no influence for how this sub-forum look like.  Good way is to create separate website with this scenario (official and/or unoffical) when someone easilly put there (on the \FTP) sceanrios and MODS (WHo start doing them first?)

My Prinz,

"The Reichenberg scenario have 10 version because we (I and JackX) try do it best we can, and both have different view how it should look like."

Yes, of course I have noticed your discussion about pros and cons, that seems to be the best way to get the best result...with yout last answer I have more understanding about the forum situation but also more questions about the actual modding-situation

You want play swedish scenario yet, because it is temp/or/nonrelease version which shall apear in Volume II, Swedish troops haven't avaible yet for anyone beside me and Magnus (and other beta tester which dowload them)

My Question : Ok, but does it mean, that actually we have no "inofficial" new troops graphics (or painters for "inofficial" new troops graphics) available for everyone in this forum, only "official" troops graphics, available only for Vol. II-beta testers?

If you want to have finall version of any scenario -just email me!

Yes, thanks a lot, I will return to your kind offer [:)]

I have no influence for how this sub-forum look like.

Maybe we can initialize new "end-version"-modding - threads like:
- Only new units and comments
- Only new sounds and comments
- Only new scenarios and comments
- Only new miscellaneous files and comments
(...)

Good way is to create separate website with this scenario (official and/or unoffical) when someone easilly put there (on the \FTP) sceanrios and MODS

Yes, that is my opinion too... but I think the mod-section in this matrix forum can only be "inofficial" for the gamers. A official mod is part of Vol. II and for commercial reasons only buyable with Vol. II, isnt't it?!

(Who start doing them first?)

I want to change some sounds, some miscellaneous files (like the shown examples of "all" - right-mouse-click- unit pics ***, new backgrounds for the maps, plates and buttons....
About feeled 99% of all existing (changeable) game files are un-/zipped under 2.000 kb and so it should be possible to present them in this forum.

Greetings

*** by the way, every new pic in the "Horse and Musket Volume I / Support Files / UnitPropertiesScreen" is a TGA with 1,xx MB / zipped with 500-600 kb, this could be a challenge for the server

Well I had any idea a long time ago to paint regiments that users requested. Or have 1 infantry regiment 1 cavalry regiment released per week or so :)

So definitely I can paint regiments on request since I have access to all the textures and 3D units. If we somehow could organize the subforum for mods like you said Uffz with New units, new textures and so on that would be great.

Magnus, thanks a lot !

Do you have enough sources f. e. about Prussian Free-troops or the minor states-uniforms or other less known units etc. etc.?

I have lots of sources, but of course any other source for minor states and especially frei korps is welcome.

Sounds good, I think one aim should be to create 99,9 % of the Prussian army, what do you think?

Do you have thought about something like a "system" for creating the units??
(Infanterie-Regiment IR1, IR2, IR3....Garnison-Grenadiere G I, G II, GIII....., Frei-Infanterie F1 - F14, Frei-Corps.....etc. etc.)

Hello Uffz.

Yes I have a system for creating the units. I name them IR1 and so on along with their regimental names. I have lots of Prussian units finished, I will list them all I have finished including those in the first release. However when I pick out regiments I usually pick out those that reuses the same color of the lapels, cuffs and turnbacks for several units. This way they can be reused although their regimental and life flags will of course not be correct. The list below is all Prussian units I have made :)

Puuuh, that's a great collection...very cool!!!

Please tell me, when you need support for the unit XY, then I will (hopefully) give you enough pictures and informations about the uniform ( and flag...) of this special unit, that you are should be able to "built" it !!

Kronoskaf is really a great source, but I am a collector and a reproducer, my English is not good enough and so I would be not a representable contributor. [8|]
