Familiar Comparisons

Never played the Steel Panthers series... So how does this game relate to the Panzer Command series? More importantly to Kharkov? I love that series since Winter Storm came out in 06 and since the huge patch they keep promising for that game never gets released I started to look elsewhere for something similar.

Secondly, is there any infantry combat ( saw deploying snipers in the info) or just mechanized combat?

I answered your question when you posted it in the other thread. What did I miss?

Go ahead and buy this game. It is a lot of fun.

You have lots of infantry, engineers, bazooka/piat/schreck teams, scouts, MG teams, mortar teams. You can order them to hold fire, suppression fire, assault. Popups give you the odds of success. The animations have them throwing grenades and shooting. They get promotions for better abilities.

To add to junk2drive, I'd say this game has little in common with Panzer Command.

Panzer Command is fully 3d, and is a much larger scope game action and many more units with seemingly larger maps. More investment of effort to play basically. Longer turns, longer game durations.

I would say Panzer Command is more a different flavour of Combat Mission, which is also fully 3d.

Steel Panthers is entirely igougo like BBC BA is. The 3d nature of BBC BA is perhaps distracting in that Steel Panthers is entirely 2d look down in perspective.
I LIKE that my life bothers them,
Why should I be the only one bothered by it eh.

Hi Gijas,

This is not a replacement for Panzer Command, but if you enjoy tactical-scale wargaming you'll enjoy Battlefield Academy. Also, good news is very close on the Panzer Command front, but Battlefield Academy is an excellent way to enjoy your gaming time until then.

Regards,

- Erik

Thanks for the update on Panzer Command. Many of us appreciate that the project didn't just disappear.
