Can the unit graphics set be fully modded - tanks, infantry?

Yes. They are dds files. I use paint.net. I believe tga can be used also. Make sure you save any modded items to your MyDocuments\MyGames\BBCBA folders.

Changing the models requires Slitherine to release an exporter for some modelling software though. They're looking into that atm.

so at the minute i can change colour and size but if i want to remodel the units i need the software release?

You'll need our exporter, yes. Currently it's MAX only, but I am trying to work out a good free way for people to play with the 3D.

A lot of people are using Blender now for creating 3d content (open source program).

so if i design in blender i will def. be able ti upload back into the game or does it have to be MAX? just asking before i get started on a project!?!?!?

There is no Blender exporter currently built. It is one of the apps I am currently looking into. The big issue is how well we can bring in example models for you to work from, as they are currently all in MAX format. If you are experienced with Blender, and have any experience moving from one to the other then it would help a lot.

The Engine documentation available from the Modding Portal has been updated to detail how the create and add 3D units of your own.

Included is a link to example MAX files and the exporter script needed to create game assets.

Grab it now from the Modding Portal!
