Deciding Who Gets Foxholes/Trenches IN Campaign game

Post by Peterk1 »

I'm just wondering if this is a bug. I suspect not, but it still smells a little suspicious.

I've been playing a Grand Campaign as the Allies and for a while now I've been suspecting that my units are never getting foxholes/trenches even when the Germans are attacking onto one of my maps and when my units have been resting in an undisputed area so I decided to start paying a little more attention to it.

I'm on Day 4 turn 1. I've had some paratroopers holding Carentan on the strategic map for a number of turns now against no opposition and they've been resting. The Germans are counterattacking onto that map.
The first dialog I get before the map opens says "Germans Attack". Then after the map is displayed, the little dialog tells me "You are attacking the map in this battle. The enemy will be dug in."

Seems a little counterintuitive. I would have expected my guys to get the foxholes in this one since the Germans are entering.

Excellent, that must be it.
I'm still on the 5.07 official patch.
