Based on Slitherine’s popular tabletop wargaming system by the same name, Field of Glory now comes to the PC in a faithful adaptation of this acclaimed miniatures wargame! Without the calculations and measurements required for a tabletop game of Field of Glory, the PC version accurately represents Ancient and Medieval combat where you make the important and fun decisions on the battlefield. This forum also supports the Rise of Rome, Storm of Arrows and Immortal Fire expansions to Field of Glory.

Was wondering if Field of Glory would be a good place to start in war gaming? Looking for something that is simple to learn and fast to play. But not sure if all the different troop types will be overwhelming and so on.

Any suggestions appreciated!

While I'm not a fan of the AI, I do think it's a good intro wargame. If you don't have much experience against computer opponents, then you would probably even find it challenging for awhile. And when you no longer do, the multiplayer matchmaking is a real breeze. So yes, this is probably a pretty good game to start your wargaming experience assuming you enjoy the time periods covered.
