SS & "Siberians"

Post by SMK-at-work »

OK - firstly I'm a grog freak - I like my games as good a simulation as possible and to some extent I am perfectly willing to sacrifice some simplicity for that.....so if you don't like that you're probably not going to like anything I suggest anyway....;)

For the SS and Siberians in the various WW2 scenarios, and I guess any similar situations, would it be possible to give them some production by way of a "lend lease" system rather than owning a city?

IMO the Siberians don't deserve to exist as a separate entity in any scenario anyway (see tm.asp?m=1543909 ), but if they do....:)

Edited so clicking on the link actually works!

Well, giving ownership of a production center is the easiest and most flexible way to create units of a particular people-type. However, it could be done through PreDefined units that were triggered by some sort of event code.

What would be the end result you are trying to achieve with this, if I might ask? Might make it easier to determine how to simulate it in the AT engine.

I'm thinking of a number of cases historically where a specific troop type might be or should be raised in proportion to total production.

Examples might be the Old Guard of Napoleon, or Praetorian Guards in Rome, Alexander the Great's successors Argyraspids - ie elite troops raised from veterans of normal units.

In the case of the SS it would allow increased SS recruitment as foreign territories were conquered - although arguably that should be allowed by some action cards - eg raise SS Wiking Division after conquest of Denmark & Norway.

And the Siberians should just cease to exist anyway [8D]

Well depending upon the specifics, you could also approach it from the aspect of using different SFT types rather then people-types to represent those forces and then use resources to control thier availability.

From my standpoint it would probably be too much work to create a seperate SS SFT type for each type of equipment. You would probably be better off going the Pre-Defined Unit + Action Card route.... if you don't want to use people specific production centers.
