Hi,

Naturally I am mortified to see an error like this after release. This happens to be the same error that jjdenver reported. I am working on it but I cannot immediately duplicate it. But it's clearly there. [:@]

This seems to have occurred when the AI was intercepting one of your fleets. Can you tell me what kind of fleets were involved and which sea zone this occurred in? It's OK if you don't remember. That isn't your job, of course. You're the customer and I am sorry that you are experiencing this. But if you do remember that might make it easier for me to see what is wrong.

OK, I have identified the problem. Unfortunately the game doesn't like it if you "escape" the interception animation before it begins. You should be able to, of course. But there is an error that is exposed when you do this. It so happens that this error won't happen if you "escape" after the hostile fleet has started to move. But, by that time there isn't much point to escaping anything.

As a work-around: don't escape the "Romans are moving to intercept your fleet" animation. I know that this may slow some of you down a little. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Of course, this will be fixed in the first patch that we release for the game. I don't know how soon we'll do that. I'd like to wait a bit and see if any more minor errors like this are uncovered. If there were no work-around I would issue a hot fix immediately, of course.

Thanks for your patience. I realize that people put down hard-earned money for a game like "Hannibal" and I hope that you won't encounter any more problems like this.

Thank you for the quick response. A few bugs are to be expected. I am enjoying the game, despite the AI handing my ass to me on a plate.[;)]

The Crash occured when a Macedonian fleet provided by the "Macedonian Aid" card was moving into the gulf of Tarentum and was engaged by the roman fleet there.

I had an army of 6 units plus a leader besieging Emporium in Spain. The Romans played not one, but TWO "Rebelion in Spain" cards! Army=GONE. The romans in the city sallied forth to chase away my general, and the game crashed.

Mike

You are relentless! [:)]

Thanks for posting this latest crash report. I am sorry that you got hit twice. And thanks for the additional information on the other problem. It always helps.

I have identified the source of both problems. We'll post a patch early next week that will correct both of these problems. The target for the patch's release is Monday. We'll be testing the patch over the weekend for QA before you guys get it, of course.

This second bug is annoying, and I am sorry it hit you. It's a fairly rare occurrence and I don't think anyone else is likely to see it in the next few days. There is no workaround, but it should not happen very often.

Thanks for your help and patience.

Edit: Sorry that you got hit three times. [:(] This will be corrected in the next patch as well.

I probably should put this in perspective. I am averaging only one crash every 6-7 hours, wich really is'nt that bad for an unpatched game. So please don't take these reports too harshly.

Overall this game is excellent; I spent $50 on it and I certainly feel I got my money's worth. I am being relentless because I really want it to succeed.

Mike,

Thanks for your kind words. They are greatly appreciated.

I am glad that you feel that you are getting your money's worth. We'll have a patch soon for these problems. In fact, I should probably get back to testing the patch. [:)]
