question for devs: sound modding

Command Ops: Battles From The Bulge takes the highly acclaimed Airborne Assault engine back to the West Front for the crucial engagements during the Ardennes Offensive. Test your command skills in the fiery crucible of Airborne Assault’s “pausable continuous time” uber-realistic game engine. It's up to you to develop the strategy, issue the orders, set the pace, and try to win the laurels of victory in the cold, shadowy Ardennes.
Command Ops: Highway to the Reich brings us to the setting of one of the most epic and controversial battles of World War II: Operation Market-Garden, covering every major engagement along Hell’s Highway, from the surprise capture of Joe’s Bridge by the Irish Guards a week before the offensive to the final battles on “The Island” south of Arnhem.

question for devs: sound modding

Post by tyrspawn »

I am determined to make a sound mod for HTTR/COTA/BFTB.

Question: If I put additional files in the sound directories, will they be used?

i.e.

InGame\Weapons\AntiTank\Heavy

there is a file called ATHvy1.WAV

if I were to make ATHvy2.WAV would it be used?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Yep...sure will. It will randomly play a sound from the collection in the directory.

Could the sound files be manipulated so that 'incoming' and 'outgoing' artillery have different sounds? Having an auditory clue as to who's firing the most artillery would be good.

Dave:

1. Will mp3s be used?

2. Just curious - why didn't you use the Steel Panthers World at War sounds? Freeware game from the same publisher, and they are high quality sounds. Seems like a win win.

edit:

looks like some were actually used from Steel Panthers (the principal source for my sound mod im working on) - but the selections are meh and they were downmixed.
