Operation Garden: Final Phase

Command Ops: Battles From The Bulge takes the highly acclaimed Airborne Assault engine back to the West Front for the crucial engagements during the Ardennes Offensive. Test your command skills in the fiery crucible of Airborne Assault’s “pausable continuous time” uber-realistic game engine. It's up to you to develop the strategy, issue the orders, set the pace, and try to win the laurels of victory in the cold, shadowy Ardennes.
Command Ops: Highway to the Reich brings us to the setting of one of the most epic and controversial battles of World War II: Operation Market-Garden, covering every major engagement along Hell’s Highway, from the surprise capture of Joe’s Bridge by the Irish Guards a week before the offensive to the final battles on “The Island” south of Arnhem.

Operation Garden: Final Phase

Post by simovitch »

Together at last: Nijmegen and Arnhem on the same map!

I'll be using this map for the last 2 scnarios: "Op: Garden final phase" and "Keeping the Island afloat". This scenario pack is just about done.[8D] Again - I have no information at all on how it's all going to be released.

Edit: Operation Garden, not Market[8|]

The map looks fantastic! Any plans to include Brigade size scenarios, for example 'Raid on Renkum'?

There are a few small scenarios in the pack, like Joe's Bridge, Arnhem 2nd lift, and Molenhoek Counterattack, but these are Division sized - nothing as small as a brigade.

looking fantastic...it will be a price thing for me though...as we paid out premium for the game I hope the scenarios are a fair price to show us why we paid premium money....

also I need some EF action...thats when this game will really become my wargaming heaven

Having only ever played the demo for the original i'm excited about this expansion. Will the US Para demo mission be included?

Ahead of the Christmas price drops, Panther would do well to offer a 3-4 scenario pack for FREE to all current owners of BftB and those who pay full price before any sale.
I have already played through most of the stock Bulge scenarios and haven't played a game in 2 months now.
I have friends who would buy the game if there was something to play in addition to the Bulge.
Once they get the game in their hands, I know I can convince them to play the Bulge games, tho.
But they aren't going to pay $80 +$20 for the privilege.
Those who wait for the holiday sale can pay $20 for it. [:)]

I think you're on the right track.

In retrospect, IMO, BftB should have been released this December, but offering these HttR scenarios gratis to those of us who have already paid dearly for this game as well as adding them to a winter sale might get some activity on this eerilly quiet forum.

The forum is quite because there isn't really anything to say...most people will be waiting for more scenarios and it hasn't got a game community going on like say WitP....most non mainstream game forums go quite..very few stay active...unless it has it's own community..

This is going to be fantastic! I've been a great fan of this series since HTTR, and I'm really enjoing BFTB (although I'm lurking more than chatting). I'm currently playing a nail-biter as the Germans on day 4 of Esenborn Ridge. What you're doing looks great Mr simovitch, and I'll be lining up to get this. I found it hard to get back into HTTR after the new features in COTA so this is really the way to go to breathe some new life into this. [:)]

That looks really great Simovitch! - I made the mistake of not getting HTTR when it came out - looking forward to seeing the upgraded version !

But what is there to talk about???

The Bulge is a well covered battle....everyone would have played the game...plus I expect alot of buyers where previous owners so we are well versed with the game mechanics...

I mean show me a forum on here of a new game that stays busy after a few months esp if an expansion hasn't been release...there aren't many WitP and SPWAW is about it out of how many games??

Not sure what you think people should be talking about...I always knew the forum wouldn't be that busy once the initial release had died down...are you suggesting hardly anyone bought the game?

Storm of War has gone pretty quite and that came out after and seem to have a good lot of buyers....90% of the Matrix forum has few visiters...another thing is new buyers will be small I imagine due to the price...an Xmas sale (not this year though I think) will bring in some new blood and I believe the HTTR scenarios will....the more scenario packs the better..thats when the forum will get busy again...I just can't see what people would really talk about at the moment which hasn't already been said.

So well-covered that Panther Games shouldn't have bothered with it?

That was another reason some decided to pass on this title, but a game done well would be worth re-visiting, and IMO, BftB was well done.

However, that isn't reflected by this forum's inactivity: as they say in the movies, "It's just too quiet out there".

Well, I just got my backside handed to me as the Jerries following the Elsenborn Ridge scenario - minor defeat. That's probsbly pretty good given the historical outcome. I had previously won a DV as the Ysnks. If there was an eastern front module coming I guess I'd be transferred to a ditch outside Memel with a panzerfaust, no rank and minimum rations. I'm going through BFTB in chronological order so it's on to the next O-Tag scenario, probably Assault on the Sauer. Thanks for the chart Markshot - I plugged in the dates and colour coded it some I can savour the timelines. I can't wait to go back in time to the Arnhem battles. There - so much for there being nothing to talk about [8D]

Quite right Nick.

My feeling is one of disappointment with Panther who have done very little to promote and garner interest with new or existing fans.

We paid top dollar for this game, and it is worth every penny, but I feel we have all been left high a dry since the last patch.
I do not see any reason to hope that we will see much after HttR pack. This is now not coming till the new year.

I would suggest that people will need to see all new product and patches for BftB quicker than is currently the case.
All the best

sharper...this was the case with CotA aswell...just the way it is I'm afraid...and yes we will be waiting a few years for the next iteration...thats why the est editor was released with the game....it was left to us to keep it going I reckon...still the game is superb.
