When to buy

Command Ops: Battles From The Bulge takes the highly acclaimed Airborne Assault engine back to the West Front for the crucial engagements during the Ardennes Offensive. Test your command skills in the fiery crucible of Airborne Assault’s “pausable continuous time” uber-realistic game engine. It's up to you to develop the strategy, issue the orders, set the pace, and try to win the laurels of victory in the cold, shadowy Ardennes.
Command Ops: Highway to the Reich brings us to the setting of one of the most epic and controversial battles of World War II: Operation Market-Garden, covering every major engagement along Hell’s Highway, from the surprise capture of Joe’s Bridge by the Irish Guards a week before the offensive to the final battles on “The Island” south of Arnhem.

When to buy

Post by adek670 »

guys,

As a recent convert to matrix games via War in the Pacifc Admirals Edition, I have been looking at their software for a land based equivalent. Having read the posts and checked out the reviews, Command Ops: Battles From The Bulge seems to fit the bill.

Reading between the lines I sense that a further release with more maps etc may be on the way, is there a time scale for this?

I would hate to make a purchase only to find out a week or two later that there has been a 'bundle pack' or special edition launched.

Any news ?

The HTTR Expansion pack won't probably be released till after Xmas as Matrix's release schedule is full till then. When we do it will be as an expansion pack requiring purchase of BFTB. So you might as well buy BFTB now.

@Reaper....a bundle pack wont happen for awhile...nor a special version....as I imagine the price would be very very high and there was enough trouble whn bftB was released...I say buy now and get used to the game mechanics...

Wodin / Arjuna,

Having tried out the demo,Command Ops: Battles from the Bulge Demo to test the game mechanics, I am going to wait out - imho I just can't justify the £55.99 at the moment - thanks for your replies though.

Some great things within the game though - the "Mission Command" aspect of delegating orders is inspirational - May I ask how the sub unit commander's own personality is modelled in game please? I know from 19 years in the British Army (still serving) that this can invariably lead to wild differences in the execution of a plan.

A wonderful quote which sums up my experience in the demo: "Never tell people how to do things. Tell them what to do and they will surprise you with their ingenuity" Patton.

The commander's personality is modelled by the following parameters:

Agression
Determination
Efficiency
Judgement
Leadership

plus

Quality of the Staff

Each is set as a percentage.

Reaper...it is an expensive game...but if the furture is bright with expansions etc then it will pay for itself in the end...there is no other game quite like it...I'm enjoy a user made scenario at the moment..Epsom...

Over at the Wargamer forum Arjuna stated the price may INCREASE after Xmas due to the financial market...so buy NOW

Guys,

Looks like I was right to disregard the previous threads and go with my gut instinct which was: High Price + "Arujuna stating price may increase" + Xmas = 25% sale!!!

May just purchase now!!
