EXE crashes with the new patch

Post by STIENER »

ive been having ALOT of exe crashes with the new patch.....i think i had 1 with the 1st patch, but now ive had about 10 with the new patch.
any ideas why???
they were all in operations. 1 operation i put together and the others in the arnhem op.
in the op i put together we had to truce to get by it.......couldnt fugure out what it was. it was on the Grafegan map, with the 107 PZ brig and the 69/50 allied. i hosted.it crashed as we were setting up our troops. it crashed even if you didnt do any troop set up. when we did the next turn and came back to the map, it worked ok.

in the old CC5 which was full of these crashes you just restarted and away you go...

in the arnhem op last nite, we just reloaded on GR and away it went?????? dont remember what map........it was the KG Kraft that i never moved off the stock map of the stock op.

ive also had other EXE crashes at various times with the new patch.

any ideas???

Sorry to hear you're having troubles Steiner. Does this crash happen during single player as well? You'd said "we" so I'm guessing all the CTD's of this were during multiplayer? if you saw it during single player was there anything specific you were doing when the CTD happens? When you say ALOT does that mean you kept repeating the circumstances that lead to one specific CTD? If so what steps are required to repeat this? Or when you say ALOT are they different crashes of different types? if so what are the nature of those crashes and steps to repeat them?

Please attach the OP you made as well.

Standard reply i would say is, have you updated all of your drivers and done all windows-updates? Bet you have, but anyways a good start to start with.

Two other must ask questions after a patch is released;

1) for multiplayer do both of you have the 2nd patch installed?
2) did you start new campaigns/operations instead of using saved games?

Hi Oddball
dont no if the crash happens during single player. only played H2H and the arnhem op too.
yes we kept reapeating the same circumsatnces that lead to the CTD [ whats CTD mean??? ] EXE crash.
all you have to do is load the op and move Rienhold 10 SS to Groesbeek, then Euling 10 SS in Groesbeek to Groesbeek heights, and move the 69/50 allied from Groesbeek heights south to Grafegan. this will make the 107 and 69/50 fight there. pick troops for the Grafegan map and try and deploy your troops on the map.

i played the arnhem op last nite and had a exe crash but we just reloaded the game and it went just like CC5 does....no fuss no muss.

i believe ive had exe crashes with just starting LSA into the game menu before.

my drivers are updated and i have the newest windows updates. [ windows auto update ]

we both had the 2nd patch and we started the op after we installed the 2nd patch.
there was not any EXE crashes that i recall with the 1st patch???

heres the OP file..........EXE Test JB

http://www.mediafire.com/?ndiwq83zwaznnck OR
<a href='http://www.mediafire.com/?ndiwq83zwaznn ... waznnck</a>

one of these should work???

is anyone else having these EXE type crashes??? lets hear about it........

Thanks Steiner will give it a try.

Steiner can you please attach your Op as a zipped file to a post in this thread? Just hit the orange "post reply" button and options for attaching files will be below the text window. I can't download an exe. All three of those links don't have a game file anywhere on any of those pages. Thanks.

ORIGINAL: STIENER

we both had the 2nd patch and we started the op after we installed the 2nd patch.

Which version of the game was the op created under?

Just tried the Arnhem up from strat movement through the first battle several times and no problems whatsoever. I'd like to try this out with your op and possibly have Steve take a look at the game file if you could attach it as a zip file to a post. Thanks.

Yes I do believe that's the issue here since there were many data files that were updated from one to the other. I'm not going to say I'm 100% certain but it's a likely possibility. I'd still like to look at it and have Steve comment. Thanks for attaching the file.

*EDIT* Steve said the file you'd attached was corrupted. He suggested restarting under the newest available update h2h if you've not already done that. Have you? Does it do the same thing after restarting the op?
