The Empire of Japan is at War again... three days ago hostilities broke out, and out of the sudden the lull in the Nanyo-cho (the southern areas) came to an end.

IJGHQ had already (but secretly) announced it´s overall concept to overwhelm the Allies and cut their connection to Australia - which country we consider an easy prey due to its weak defenses. Most IJN & IJA assets will be allocated for these operations and the first units are already underway as ordered.

However, we suffered a little initial setback already since one of our transports was torpedoed last night and is deemed beyond repair.
At least the crew is trying to beach this stricken vessel to save the precious load of a landing party....

I think I understand what military fame is; to be killed on the field of battle and have your name misspelled in the newspapers.

besides the early sub attack the first week went by pretty quiet... None of our initial landings in PNG and the lower Solomons was challenged by the enemy.

nothing worth to mention yet.

While waiting for massive reinforcements from Japan, we´re embedded in the usual build-up business.[>:] Still just not enough toys to play with... [;)]

We´re still in May ´42, so it will take about another month until it starts to get bloody...

It will interesting to see how our respective games will develop against the same opponent......

no, not much. Being on opposite sides of the pond we are only getting about 2 turns per day done. Not a lot of sightings either, although the IJN just landed an INF unit at PM without being spotted. Fast transports strike again!

PM taken!

Post by RGIJN »

along with the stunning succes came a little "gift" on the side: we captured 18 intact C-47 Dakota aircraft at the runway. Some of the planes had even their engines still running...

To our grief, IJGHQ already assigned them to Singapore. They took off only hours after we secured the airstrip.

as the enemy tries to save some troops from the deadly jungle of PNG we decided to interfere with his fleet movements... a destroyer crippled from an earlier submarine attack was sunk today, going down in a hail of bombs & torps... Taking a sledgehammer to crack a nut!

THE KB sails too close to townsville and get a few dents for the trouble.

Shokaku 2 torp hits
Zuikaku 2 torp hits
Hiryu 1 torp and one bomb hit
Shoho 1 bomb hit

Wow, the torp hits should be enough to put them out of action quite some time....

What date in the game?

June 10th. I am not sure how bad off these carriers are. Ralf states not that much damage is done, and as only one is showing as on fire I am inclined to believe him. Still, something is better than nothing

there is still some striking power left... However, I have to admit it was not the brigtest idea to get that far south now.

after KB´s (only parts of) brief visit off Australia, we rely on our submarines for now... with some success. In the meantime our fleet is assembling for just another raid somewhere around the Coral Sea[:D]
