critical need for save feature in PBEM

The team behind the award-winning game Advanced Tactics is back with a new and improved game engine that focuses on the decisive early days of World War II! Decisive Campaigns: The Blitzkrieg from Warsaw to Paris is the first in an innovative series of operational World War II wargames that also include a strategic element. The Blitzkrieg from Warsaw to Paris simulates Germany’s military successes in Poland and France in 1939 and 1940 (including also a hypothetical “Sea Lion” invasion of Great Britain).

critical need for save feature in PBEM

Post by gwgardner »

I understand that the save feature is disabled for PBEM, to forestall cheating.

However, for someone like me who takes forever to do a turn, successfully leaving this game open and active on my computer for a day or more, to make a move, is ridiculous. Not to mention the time to do an AAR.

I seriously request that the save feature be enabled for PBEM. It's very much needed in order to make the game fun, and not a burden.

The cheating issue is just not at all important to me - no decent player is going to cheat, and it's quite obvious if one does.

You can do this already by un-selecting the PBEM button.

This will allow you to save when every you like and still have passwords.

It will also let anyone open a turn any number of times without the opponent knowing ... so know your opponent. [;)]

PS Unfortunatley it can't be changed mid-game. [:(]

I wish we had known that!! Bummer. Thx, will keep that in mind for future games.

Actually, this is so important I'm going to get with Choco and see if he would agree to restarting our current PBEM. We're only one turn in.

You will need to check the "Passwords" option if you don't use the "Play by Email" option.

Just tuned in. Also did send you an email about this. Not a problem for me to restart if this makes life easier.

But I am getting a bit worried about what devious plans I am up against if you strategize your turn for so long.....

Haha. Since you've won 4 out of 5 of our PBEMs, I don't think you have much to fear from my devious planning.
