C+ at most. Graphics great. Short on story and bad ending. Wait to rent.

Don't see "Red". Very bad and predictable film.

"The Town" on the other hand, is surprisingly good.

The Strause brothers made Skyline. They are visual effects people, x-men. wolverine etc. Was made for about 50K Filmed where they live apartment, parking garage etc.

Red I thought was alright. Pretty much every movie I see, I have buyers remorse now since I got my 50" tv.

I'm trying to remember the last movie I saw in a theater, and I can't.  [:D]

Movies just cannot compete with games when it comes to geekiness, and nerdiness. Who wants to watch a bunch of overpaid humans trying to act?
I would rather take part in a role playing game like Fallout New Vegas, and feel like I am actually taking part and not just watching.

It's good to see that some people are still attempting to produce 'new' and relatively original movies. Most movies coming out these days are either a sequel, a prequel, or the same story that has been used half a dozen times in past movies.

And they wonder why the film industry has been in a nose dive. [8|]

Skyline has a little bit of Alien,Independence Day and War of the Worlds.....I hated the end. It leaves it wide open for Skyline 2.[:)]

Yeah, yeah, yeah, we know. "Nihil novi sub sole", "Nothing new under the sun" - that´s what they said 2000 freakin´ years ago. So not even your rant is even remotely original... [:D]

figured as much..I feel the same for BattleLA or whatever that one is called.

Bunch of flash-bang and little story..like most Hollywood movies made for the American ADHD audience..same for most new video games...guess why I am watching the BBC Battlefield(Series I) on DVD.

If all it can boast is good graphics - why bother.

I'm a bit too old to think my money is well spent just to see some special effects and CGI - without some sort of decent story and dialogue.

Skyline has a little bit of Alien,Independence Day and War of the Worlds.....

How was the weaponry used by either side? (Energy weapons are realistic, "disintegrator beams" not so much.)

I'm having a hard time believing in people floating up into a waiting processing plant because they looked at a blue light...[;)]
Civil war? What does that mean? Is there any foreign war? Isn't every war fought between men, between brothers?

Stop twisting my point to make your own.
I never said there was nothing new. Just that there's been a dearth of them for awhile now.

The blame lies solely at the feet of Hollywood's industry. They don't want to take chances tossing big budget film backing at anything new, but would rather remake The A-Team or make a dozen films about natural disaster(s) ending the world or some city.
Or rehashing Pocahontas and dumping tons of money into it. Another good example. [:D]

Calm down. I was just kidding. It´s as annoying to me as it is to you.

It isn´t just Hollywood, though. I seem to recall that ancient Greek and Roman playwrights busily copied each other and rehashed the same ancient stuff. So even that isn´t new.

And let´s see what´s on my desktop... Heroes of Might and Magic IV. Civilization IV. Tropico 3. Master of Orion 2. Alien Shooter 2. The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion. Mass Effect 2. Space Empires V. All totally original and never-before-seen concepts... [8D]

I wonder why they don't do more movies on games that are hits, such as Starcraft, world of warcraft, halflife.
