Need some gaming advice

Post by FM_Freyland »

Hi all

Only recently started playing, despite having the game since it's release... I am a RTFM kind of guy, with very little time :)

Anyways, my first game was on the day of the patch release, and I think it really seems to add a lot. However, the "Fail to Retire" bug mentioned on this forum and the bug forum is something of a gamebreaker, I think. Yet, to go back to the first release will result in missing out on many new 'perks'. What are your thoughts, to a newbie? Should I stick with the new patch, sans Tokyo Express, or should I reinstall the game until this unfortunate casualty is fixed by the excellent developer support? What are you going to do?

Thanks for your time

Jonathan
It is true that honesty is the best policy... however, by default, that implies dishonesty is the second best policy!

I saw the Tokyo express setting up for their nightly hit on Lunga. I decided to divert my main surface fleet, who were en route to Gili Gili, and commanded by Admiral Lee. This is a major strike force. 3 Battleships, 5 Cruisers and various escorts. They would not be able to reach Lunga in the night turn, but I set them on enemy react and I knew what was going to happen.

During the night the Japanese force charged down the Slot and met all of my Destroyers and PT boats at Lunga. A massive battle ensued, but with just 2 Destroyers and 10 PT boats, my force was pretty much chewed up. Then came the day turn. (Nasty Grin). My Main Surface fleet reacted to the stuck Jap fleet and we had the best battle I've ever see. I sunk everything but a CA, who was badly crippled. The battle lasted a very long time and my Battleships all ran out of ammuniton. What a great fight!

I replayed it a few times just to watch it, then I went back and played my turn the way that I should have played it. My tactics were just too cheesy. It was an awesome battle though.
