Muliplayer Not Working Correctly

Post by Zemke »

Not sure what the problem is here. But I have replayed the same file three times in a row now. What is taking place is I load the turn, new scenario, do my turn, end my turn...then when I look on the muliplayer again it show it is still my turn. After ending the turn the first two times, when I looked and loaded it again and it is the start of the scenario. So this last time I saved, then ended. I now load up where I saved at, but my ending file does not show up on the multiplayer screen. Is my opponent getting the right file? This is turning into a nightmare. What am I doing wrong?

There seems to be a bug where it is possible to start a game using the online matching, but have the actual game expect to be played out through the sending-saves type approach. It seems to have caught a few people out, but I believe it to be fixed ready for the next update.

I believe that it occurs if you click the PBEM checkbox on and then go into the server setup screens and start a game. If you are using the online system, there is no need to click the PBEM button.

If you can confirm your opponent name I will remove the broken game from the server. In the meantime it is fine to start up a new challenge and play.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Cheers

Pip

Zemke_4,

Yes, I believe that as Pip said, this is a bug that happens if you have the normal PBEM checked while playing Multiplayer. We only found it after we had gone gold and it's already fixed in the beta updates, but if your game is affected I think you will need to start over.

Regards,

I guess the rule is to not click PBEM if you want to utilize the server.  Because the new server-based multiplayer mode is not PBEM anyways.
BTW, looks like this is addressed by the beta patch.

I was playing MP with BigAnorak and had problems as well although mine were more around freezes during the turn. Had to give up.
