Max and effective ranges of 21cm M 18

While working in the estab editor I checked out this German heavy artillery piece and have a question about the ranges for the bombardment round.

The estab has the max range as 29.6 km with .5 accuracy. The manual says that effective range is at the .33 accuracy limit.

However I read in IV Hogg p95 the max range is 16.724 km. At http://www.answers.com/topic/21-cm-m-rser-18 we read the effective range is 14,500 m (15,857 yds). The US Army Ardennes Campaign database http://www.ntis.gov/search/product.aspx?ABBR=ADA240088 and http://www.ntis.gov/search/product.aspx?ABBR=ADM001245 lists the max effective range as 16.725 km.

Is the data entered here really for the 21 cm K 39 which had a max range of 33 km? http://www.answers.com/topic/21-cm-kanone-39

The 21cm M 18 gun was in fact a mortar (M = "Mörser" -> mortar) that could fire around 30 rounds per hour. The max range was ~ 16.700 meters (16.7 km), according to most sources.

The Kanone (cannon) 39/40 was a modified 21-cm Kanone 38 (max range: 33,900 meters) and had a max range of 34,000 meters.

So, yes, that particular estab item (21cm-Mörser 18) either carries the wrong specs, or the right specs carry the wrong designation. [;)][:D]
