Audio Issues

Post by Skeleton »

I am having an issue, in game, when both music and sound effects are enabled. There is a crackling that occurs after I have initiated my first combat or movement of a unit. I experience no issue with the soundtrack playing while in the game menu or prior to being in game. I have also updated my sound drivers and have not experienced this while playing any other game or listening to music. Is this a bug or something unique to WITE and is there anything I can do to mitigate the issue? Any help would be most appreciated!

Does it happen during every move/combat or only during the first one after the game was loaded?

Please see the attachment. As for duration and when it commences; it occurs throughout after the first initial movement/combat.

Ok, but, I do not experience a CTD, just an annoying crackle. Any suggestions on how to fix?

I'll contact Keith, who wrote the sound code. May be he will have any thoughts.

So far sound problems have been reported just with this particular type of sound card.

Thank you Helpless. Definitely not a game killer, rather just an annoyance. Any feedback or direction would be most appreciated.

Have you received or would you have any suggestions as to a solution to mitigate this issue? Will disabling the music help? Thank you.

Nothing so far. These issues are not so easy and fast troubleshoot. Unfortunately, we don't have capabilities to test all kind of configurations.

Actually it is quite interesting, does it go away if music is disabled?

The issue does not go away with the music off and when I attempt to update the driver, I am prompted that they are the latest and there is no need. I do understand about the multitude of configurations and appreciate the replies.

Where do you try to update the driver, creative support itself?

Have you tried through windows update?

I can report this, the latest Beta Patch not only improves the overall speed of the game, it has made it possible to determine exactly where the audio issues stem from; combat sound effects. With the 1.02 Beta, it is still there, but, much easier to deal with. When sound effects are turned to 0, they disappear all together. Keep up the great work, this is a huge improvement in game quality for older, slower machines!

It seems that your card driver doesn't "like" when multiple instances start to play at the same time. I have reduced them a lot from 5 to 2. When you set volume to 0 they are not played at all (it was like that form version 1.00)
