Victory conditions with Ancient guardians (possibly even Shakturis).

Post by J HG T »

Playing my first game in expansion and totally loving it.
When I started I set the victory conditions to 35% to population and economy. 50 yers to apply, 100 year game. I met the guardians fairly early on and have great relationship with 'em (delighted). I noticed that Ancient guardians are a major powerplayer in the galaxy and currently have superior economy, military and strategic value to anybody. So, can the guardians end the game with economic (or any) victory after the set 50 years? Assuming no empire grows enough to challenge their position. That would be quite odd cause they aren't really part of struggle the other races are having with each other.

The Ancient Guardians are not part of the normal victory conditions, so they will never "win" the game based on their own economy, etc.

Thanks Erik! That's nice to hear.
Regarding this issue: If it's possible to fix in a patch, the ancient guardians should not be showing in the victory condition screen. It confuses things a little.

That's probably a good idea.

Could the Ancient Guardians spreading all over the place be tuned down in general? They seem to have a heck of a lot of ships right as you start the game. At least every time I run into them, they seem to have found everything already in my area and have gas\mine stations all over the place.

Indeed, in my last game the guardians had claimed (placed a mining station on) both the loros fruit and the spice source, which is annoying because they refused to trade anything with me and I really didn't want to piss them off.

They only have one colony, and as far as I know they stick with just that one. It looks ridiculously developed though...

Machines likes spices and luxury items too.[:)] I like them being a factor in the galaxy.Just being stuck at the home system would be kinda dull as you might never see them in a game.

Better ancient guardians have 'em than some punk Dhayuuts or Haakonish. Or even worse, "The Evil Ones"!

They only have the one colony, but their actions are at odds with the description of them given ingame. It states that they have no interest in expansion outside of their homeworld, yet I find them building mining bases across half the galaxy. They claim all of the rare resources and refuse to trade them, and if you take them away they get pissed off.

Exactly! I expect them to have some bases outside of there home system for resources they may need. But they just seem to be everywhere with in months of starting the game. Making it really bad for you if you happen to start in the same area as them. One game, literally all ruins, bases, etc were already discovered by them before I even started to expand out. And I build several explorers always right off the bat.

the ancient guardians wont be winning any victory conditions if they remain so determined to fill their destroyers, crusiers, capitals and troop transports with troops.

i wandered over to them to discover that their homeworld had one troop. no more guardians [:'(]

You checked out their war weariness reduction stat? Get twenty percent Mechanoid pop and your set for eternal wars (without having any other war weariness reduction bonuses).

DE-FI-NET-LY! The whole point of the ancients is that they are super-powerful and pretty much unconquerable guardians of this galaxy. One troop batallion... *Facepalm*
