Operation Blau Scenario: 5th Tank Army HQ appearing off-map

Post by BletchleyGeek »

Hi,

I'm currently playing Turn 3 of Operation Blau over PBEM. The 5th Tank Army just arrived to join the fray, but appeared in an off-map hex between Tambov and Ryazan (i.e. outside of the map boundaries specified by the scenario).

I guess the reason for this is that my opponent has driven me eastwards of X=123 (yeah, he's just kicked my butt and cleared a 100,000 strong pocket located around Voronezh) and probably occupied the actual entry hex for the 5TA HQ.

I managed to get the HQ back on map after relocating it, but unfortunately, 5TA CO died - to add insult to injury.

EDIT: gave the wrong coordinates

If you have a save just before the leader showed up, could you please send it to 2by3@2by3games.com. We tried to prevent this from happening, but it's possible we didn't cover all the bases on this.

We're playing on the server, is there a way to retrieve the previous turn file?

After reading carefully the logistics report I've noticed that the following 5TA units are reported to appear in the following hexes:

5 TA HQ (123,61)
2nd Tank Corps (113,62)
11th Tank Corps (131,64)
7th Tank Corps (110,63)
18th Tank Corps (133,65)
25th Tank Corps (133,65)

That is, well above Y=67, the top of the scenario map :( The units aren't nowhere to be seen and they're not appearing as destroyed/disbanded.

Probably not, but I'm looking into it. I'll add this to our bug list and maybe Gary can make a fix without a save.

Those arrival hexes are not what the scenario has them set to. 2nd Tank Corps, for example, is supposed to arrive at 120,67. Are these hexes occupied by the Germans?

Yes, seems like a clear case of units that are shifted to off map locations. Thought we had this working, but it's very possible it's not in all cases. Sent on to Gary to look at.
