Merry Xmas All

Command Ops: Battles From The Bulge takes the highly acclaimed Airborne Assault engine back to the West Front for the crucial engagements during the Ardennes Offensive. Test your command skills in the fiery crucible of Airborne Assault’s “pausable continuous time” uber-realistic game engine. It's up to you to develop the strategy, issue the orders, set the pace, and try to win the laurels of victory in the cold, shadowy Ardennes.
Command Ops: Highway to the Reich brings us to the setting of one of the most epic and controversial battles of World War II: Operation Market-Garden, covering every major engagement along Hell’s Highway, from the surprise capture of Joe’s Bridge by the Irish Guards a week before the offensive to the final battles on “The Island” south of Arnhem.

Merry Xmas All

Post by Arjuna »

Hi all,

Merry Xmas and a happy new year!

Thanks for all the support and contributions you have all made this year.

It's certainly been a BIG year for us. We released BFTB mid year, followed by a visit to the US, two defence contracts, the last of which has seen me travelling around Australia determining requirements for an operational warfare sim. Things are looking very positive for the future. Richard has almost finished the last of the HTTR expansion pack scenarios. He's waiting on Paul and I to finish off some changes before final playtesting. We hope to get to those in January. So with a bit of luck we'll see the HTTR ex pack released around March/April. By then we should know if the Aust DoD has committed to the development of the Command Ops engine to meet their requirements. If so, this will mean a significant increase in development. The focus will shift to modern warfare, but there should be plenty of flow on benefits to enhance historical wargaming too. I'll make an announcement once things have been finalised during early 2011.

All the best,
Dave "Arjuna" O'Connor

So no news on any new fixes for BftB one of the most expensive games on the market?

And now to all intents and purposes abandoned, great news.

Yes!
Where is the mention of a further patch for BftB?

At the present time I'm not interested in paying for HTTR ex pack until BftB is fixed.

That would be the patch. Paul and Dave are Panther Games. I've provided them with the comments from the forum, including some other issues that I have found.

I thank you for trying to explain that.
But at no time in that post does it say that these "changes" will lead to the release of a new patch for the existing game.
These "changes" to my mind are a precursor to the release of HTTR expansion pack NOT a standalone second patch.

Please let me know if I'm wrong?

Sharper, the patch will be for the benefit of all who own BFTB regardless of whether or not they aquire the HTTR expansion.

While playtesting the expansion scenarios I found some issues related to the extremely restricted nature of fighting in the polder-lands as well as some minor issues on bridge demolition. Both of these are more or less relevant in BFTB but I need them looked at especially for HTTR before I finish balancing the scenarios. These will be combined with the other issues into a single patch - seperate, but prior to the HTTR expansion. At least that's how I understand it.

Thanks for trying to clarify that simovitch. You are as always a real help and a credit to this forum. Lets hope you are correct in your understanding. I don't share your optimism sadly.

Let me confirm that Richard's advice is correct - ie we are working on a second BFTB patch and hope to get this out by the end of January. We will also endeavour to add in the features Richard needs to support the HTTR ex pack.

Yay finally someone willing to bypass the eastern front as there are just too many of these types of games already. On the other hand modern warfare is the 2nd most thing I hate about wargaming games. Years of boredom while we wait for this scratch to be done with.
X3:Universe of games rules them all!! Xtra coming soon X3:REBIRTH 4th qtr 2011 YAY!

Let me say that if things go ahead with the Defence project we are not ruling out future historical development. It will depend on the resources we have available. Hopefully, there will be additional resources to devote to developing historical titles. We won't be in a position to confirm this for a few months yet.
