5.60.50b crash battle startup

Post by ianlast »

Hello, ive been a long time lurker on these forums as a guest and decided to register when seeing others who have a similar issue.

So far during 2 campaigns in SP i have had crashes which as meant i cannot continue my campaigns. One was a custom campaign made with the senario editor as the germans and one stock GC as the allies. Both crash on the 17th. One of them at 0600 and one at 1600(or 1800?? I might have mixed that up) hours when trying to initiate battle. I've tried both changing starting units in the BG or leaving them as they are.

Both saves have been uploaded. Hope that helps.

Operation system is Win7 32bit

Thanks for bringing it to our attention ianlast. I'd say you're right in assuming it's the same issues as others have reported. We'll get it fixed asap.

Jomni, what version are you running and was the campaign started with that version?

It is recommended to NOT continue campaigns across patches as things can change that will make the game unplayable/unstable....

Oh that must be it. I upgraded midway. Thanks!
But what's funny is that I was able to play a few more battles after the upgrade.

Yes it's even possible you could continue all the way through your GC or Op without a problem as long as you don't encounter the data to which changes had been made. Continuing GC's or Ops through an upgrade won't break anything it's just that false errors may appear. But the only way to be sure you won't encounter problems is to restart your GC's or operations after installing an upgrade.

Would be nice to have some sort of a feature that will upgrade save games as well.

That sucks... So it means that my campaign is lost? That's quite a few battles down the drain...

Come on, I am sure there would be a way to manage upgrades like this. I am a software developer myself, and backward-compatibility issues are often hairy, but it is possible to have smooth transitions!

Best,
Michał
