WITE does not run, screen is black after intro video, help!

I purchased and installed WITE on the 27th. After the 2 by 3 symbol fades away on the intro video, the screen turns completely black. According to Task Manager, WITE is running but I can’t see anything on the screen. My system has not been touched since I bought it several years ago. It runs every other game I own just fine, even Civilization V which has far tougher system requirements than WITE.
I have attached the dxdiag file for you. If you would please help me figure out why WITE is not working I would greatly appreciate it.

PS Since I have never had to touch my system, I have no idea how to update drivers or do anything else. So if you think there is something I have to update you will also have to tell me how to do it… sorry about that.

In order to run WitE you must have DirectX installed and all appropriate graphics and sound drivers installed as well!


Since you haven't touched your system in years that is culprit 99.99% sure... [;)]


Thus you should:

#1
Update the Windows via Microsoft Update (this can, with luck, also update the graphics drivers and sound drivers)!

#2 (possibly not needed)
Manually update graphics drivers and sound drivers (get system info and then search the Internet for your manufacturer's WWW site with drivers!

BTW, from your dxdiag I see that you have nVIDIA graphics and SoundBlaster audio!
