Problem with recently downloaded EIA

Post by fjii »

I recently downloaded Empires in Arms from Matrix Games, and also the 1.08.04 and 1.06.03 patches. When I load it at first this error message came up saying:

There is an error with your serial number.
Please contact support@matrixgames.com for assistance
Error Code: -1

The one time I did get into the game, it looked like labels were missing, as some of the boxes on the interfaces simply said 'Label 24' or other numbers.

Now when I try to load the game, the following message comes ip

Win 32 Error. Code 5.
Access is denied

Have I missed something? Are there other patches? Or do I have to download the patches in order? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am a huge fan of the board game

Thanks

Hi fjii
you will also need to download version 1.07.02. There is a link to this patch on the main forum titled "1.07.02" or here below (Matrix should be releasing a new version that does not need patching soon).

ftp://ftp.matrixgames.com/pub/EmpiresIn ... v10702.zip

I think your first problem, might have been entering an incorrect serial number, but you seem to have gotten around that.

I'm not sure about the Win32 error, but for the text boxes, all that was needed was a reboot (I think a missing font was the cause). The win32 error, sounds like a windows error???

Try the install again. You need to go from 1.00-->1.06.03-->1.07.02-->1.08.04

Hope that works, let us know.

Not certain about the serial number error BUT this indicates (If the install ran ok) that some data is missing??? I would start from scratch!

On the text issue, this is a font install issue with the installer itself. A simple reboot will finish the font installation.

Let us know...
Thank you
