Tracker

Post by augustinus »

Forgive my ignorance and/or ineptness, but what is Tracker? Is it a tool that is part of AE or does it apply to the Beta patches, only? I was not able to find it on the search engine. Thanks for any info on this subject.

Google WITP AE TRACKER
I am by no means an expert
It appears to be away of directly view the spreadsheets that the game uses
It is useful for planning/tracking Japanese production amongst other things
It would be great if you could call up these screens as part of the game interface

Tracker is a utility that reads the files that WITP creates whenever you save a turn. When Tracker reads these turn files, it offers a different and more flexible way of seeing what you sea, air and land forces are comprised of, when ships, aircraft, etc are due to be upgraded, etc. But most imortantly, if you are playing the Japanese side, it allows you to 'track' the progress of the Japanese economy which underpins the Japanese ability to wage war. If you're playing the Allied side, Tracker is nice to have. If you're playing the Japanese side, it is a must have! Without it, the basic WITP screens just don't give you enough info to know if your economy is going broke or not.

BTW, many thanks to the Tracker guys for supporting this utility. Without it, a IJ fanboy noobie like me would still be an Allied fanboy. Where's the fun in that?

There's also a sticky thread on Tracker which is long now, but very informative.

Rossj-As usual, I'm a clutz with these things. I've got v1.7 DLed into a zip file, which I placed in the main AE file, and unzipped.

But I don't see anything except the contents of the DLed file.

Help, please. I need the 1,2,3s of it.

Thanks, Hugh Browne

You don't place Tracker in the main AE folder. It is to be used in a separate folder. I save it in my main "Document" folder.

1) download the newest Tracker version.
2) create a "New Folder" in your document folder and rename it (I use the name of my opponent Tracker-Jerry).
3) unzip Tracker into this folder.
4) follow the directions per the Tracker website
Tracker - AE

Ask questions in the Tracker thread as needed.
