So how many bought this at $59.99 durning the Xmas sale?

Command Ops: Battles From The Bulge takes the highly acclaimed Airborne Assault engine back to the West Front for the crucial engagements during the Ardennes Offensive. Test your command skills in the fiery crucible of Airborne Assault’s “pausable continuous time” uber-realistic game engine. It's up to you to develop the strategy, issue the orders, set the pace, and try to win the laurels of victory in the cold, shadowy Ardennes.
Command Ops: Highway to the Reich brings us to the setting of one of the most epic and controversial battles of World War II: Operation Market-Garden, covering every major engagement along Hell’s Highway, from the surprise capture of Joe’s Bridge by the Irish Guards a week before the offensive to the final battles on “The Island” south of Arnhem.

and how happy are you with your purchase now? I'm one of the few still on the fence but $60 is a reasonable price but to me it's no sale it's just at the price it should have been retail.

I did but not sure when I will play it as knee deep into WitE. I at least wanted it on my PC for $60.

I did and am fascinated by the game concept. Videos are a great help and interesting in their own right... Pleased with the purchase despite the cost..

I bought it , and have kept coming back to it ever since. I originally bought Conquest of the Aegean (COTA), but struggle to grasp the concept, until BftB landed, with its video tutorials. Once it "clicked", I've played COTA and BftB, and have purchased Highway to the Reich.

I can't praise the engine/AI enough, and BftB made my top of the list for wargames this year.

Its probably not for everyone, I suppose it depends if you're locked into a micro-management mindset or not. The Panthergames titles, relax all that micro-management, and allow you to command at the commanders level. Games attempting a similar level of command and control are Scourge of War and Histwar: Les Grognards. Where your orders come down the chain of command, the sub-ordinates attempt to carry them out. Interestingly enough they're all pausable continuous time. I wonder if this sort of macro-management could be applied to a turn based chit shuffler?

This game is quite fresh so can anyone tell me if there are still some major bugs in or is it already very solid?

No major bugs.

It's solid with well rounded corners.

I'm just a player, no relation with Matrix or Panther Games.

I find 60$ still a bit high considering that the improvements over COTA are quite minimal. Still I bought BotB during christmas sales because I want to support the serie and because I like the Ardennes.
Bye.

I bought BTFB during Xmas sale and I am very happy with this purchase although $60 still sounds a bit high. First I downloaded the BTFB demo, few weeks ago, to see what does „Pausable Continuous Time“ actually is. I like the concept so I decided to give it a go. I also bought previous release - COTA - as well and, interestingly, although I enjoy playing Bulge I enjoy even more playing COTA scenarios. Maybe it's only me or maybe because the 1941. Greece/Crete events are not so largely covered as Bulge.

Well, it surely has to do with the campaings covered: in COTA there are way greater possibility for operational mavouvering: in BftB there's just too much mud, snow, cold, very hostile terrain for motorized manouvering, and above all often quite tired and untrained troops which easily get bogged down.

That's just how the things were.

I suppose the forthcomming HTTR scenarios will feel very differently, as the terrain was much less hostile there while the opponents include a lot of veterain forces.

Cheers.

Yes, I agree with you on that.

If I understood your post correctly, there will be some BTFB update soon? And this update will include scenarios related to HTTR? If so, I will be glad to try them as well.

Look vsadek, as I said, I'm just an end-user so I don't have any new information other than what can be found on this forum.

And from here we know there is going to be a patch soon available. Furthermore, new scenarios from HFTR will be released, I imagine as a pay-for add-on, although nothing official has been said yet.

Correct if I'm wrong but the game comes with an editor so why should anyone pay for some HTTR scenarios that he can do himself.

I don't know what the marketing plan is for the 12 HTTR scenarios, but they are being created, tested, and will be fully supported by the Panther team and that alone should be worth a look.[:)]

Other than that, you are right the game comes with an editor and owners of the game have the same scenario construction tools that the beta team has.

I should have wrote "needed a patch" since it's already out, but another update with some minor fixes, i.e., no more messages about understrength units that can't retreat, is coming as well.

On the fence myself.. 60 still seems high, but it's tempting because so many 'rave' about the game.. last night of the sale, so might do this.. but also looking at Commander Europe at War.. or Gary Gribsy's World at War...

On the other hand, bought so many games, that I probably ain't even gonna play from all the Xmas madness sales.. I probably should just behave!

Well I bought it today of all days. I procrastinated and procrastinated and said no no no I'm not paying $60 for a game. But, with more scenarios coming out and player made ones? perhaps this game will have some longevity in it afterall. Thanks to Erik being slow to take down the sale prices I couldn't last another day. I am broken[&o]
