Crash during first turn

Post by derwho »

Hi!

I just got this game tonight and I'm running into a problem where the game crashes to desktop during my first turn randomly when I click a unit.

In my Windows 7 Ap plication logs I get an Event-ID 1000 with the following:

--[CLiP]--
Faulting application name: wbts.exe, version: 1.0.4.0, time stamp: 0x49ee6b5f
Faulting module name: MMSwitch.ax, version: 0.9.9.0, time stamp: 0x3dd9040a
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x00001b30
Faulting process id: 0x1c6c
Faulting application start time: 0x01cbaf771f77a38a
Faulting application path: C:\Matrix Games\Gary Grigsby's War Between the States\wbts.exe

Report Id: 4479224f-1b6c-11e0-b9ae-00234de71889

Any clues on what to do?

I've googled around and MMSwitch.ax was said to be a CODEC. Can you rename the file
and try again? I'm running Win 7, and that file is not on my system.
Second option is to test your memory ... google for "memtest86".

Unregistering MMSwitch.dll seemed to do the trick, thanks to pointing me to the right direction.
