Slipping Tasks...

Command Ops: Battles From The Bulge takes the highly acclaimed Airborne Assault engine back to the West Front for the crucial engagements during the Ardennes Offensive. Test your command skills in the fiery crucible of Airborne Assault’s “pausable continuous time” uber-realistic game engine. It's up to you to develop the strategy, issue the orders, set the pace, and try to win the laurels of victory in the cold, shadowy Ardennes.
Command Ops: Highway to the Reich brings us to the setting of one of the most epic and controversial battles of World War II: Operation Market-Garden, covering every major engagement along Hell’s Highway, from the surprise capture of Joe’s Bridge by the Irish Guards a week before the offensive to the final battles on “The Island” south of Arnhem.

Slipping Tasks...

Post by Marshal Villars »

Can anyone tell me why my armored battalion is slipping an attack task almost 23 hours before the assault is supposed to begin?

Here are the attack details.

Note it is day 1 at about 0800. The assault was set for D2 0600. But it has already been put off to 0616.

I know I am new to the game. Kind of confused as to why with almost 24 hours notice, this would be happening.

Hard to tell without a saved game, but check out each of the subordinates and see if any are reacting - ie. they are resting or reorganising or are routing/retreating.

Now the 37th is at its FUP. Rather earlier than the D2 0600 planned assault. But their slippage is dramatic. But they have a whole day to let German artillery rain down on them before I give them permission to jump off! :)

The attack on the NEXT DAY has already been delayed 2.5 hours from its originally intended 0600.

I am not saying its a bug. I am saying it's probably me! :) Just am wondering what I am not understanding here.

Still. Even if it is a bug. Definitely on a clear path to being the best operational/tactical WW2 simulation ever. :)

Guess what I don't get is that I ordered six armored battalions to launch attacks at 0600 on Day two. I gave the orders by about 0700 or 0800 on Day 1.

FUPs were no more than 1-2 km from where the orders were given.

All of the battalions slipped by 10 minutes to 2.5 hours by about 1200 or so on day 1. There was slippage everywhere.

Marshal,

The slippage is caused because the Move to the FUP can't be completed in the time allotted. Now it may be that it is not taking inot account the fact that there is this gap between the planned Move task end and the start of the Assault. Was the Assault At time slipped? If not, then fine. If it was, then please send me a saved game before the slippage occurs.

BTW please zip the files first as this saves my email downloads significantly. Thanks.
