It's up to you to develop the strategy, issue the orders, set the pace, and try to win the laurels of victory in the cold, shadowy Ardennes.
Command Ops: Highway to the Reich brings us to the setting of one of the most epic and controversial battles of World War II: Operation Market-Garden, covering every major engagement along Hell’s Highway, from the surprise capture of Joe’s Bridge by the Irish Guards a week before the offensive to the final battles on “The Island” south of Arnhem.

Assault Time Questions...

Post by Marshal Villars »

Okay. Awesome game! Best tactical/operational simulation EVER. But I have some questions on assault times...

1) Even when units are fresh at the beginning of a scenario and sitting basically right on top of FUPs I have assigned and it takes them minutes to get there for an attack 22 hours LATER, the assault time slips. Often several times. I have to keep resetting these times again and again.
QUESTION: Is this the way it is supposed to be working? Is a unit which is fresh and on its FUP supposed to be saying it will miss the assault time by 4 minutes in 22 hours?

2) Is it normal to have to reset your assault time again and again and again? Is it possible that playing with an orders delay is causing this (I have to try without orders delay once to see what happens)?

3) Do assault times slip because a commander can calculate that his men simply will be too exhausted to move when the assault time comes and goes? Or will he "pretend" he can make it, but at the last minute won't because his men are too tired?

4) How is that with fresh units and a few game hours into the game with units sitting on their FUPs, that the following situation can happen? Is this normal? Note that OHARA was supposed to start the assault at 11:32. 3.5 hours after the start of the scenario (I gave him plenty of time to get to FUP). Even then, it takes him until 1304 to get rolling and the assault time is still showing 11:32. Note that I have only set the rest to NONE to give him a kick in the pants.
