1933 v3.22c

Post by Bombur »

An interim version, while we are working with v3.30
This version introduces a penalty for external aid and also fixes a few bugs.

The penalty for external aid was removed...

Btw, the world is shocked with the unprovoked agression of the so called western democracies on peaceful Italy. French troops advanced against Genoa and Turin, but no major combat happens. In the med a sub vs. sub battle results in a British submarine sunk.

Turn sent.  Fleets are converging on Italy.  Cleared a hex in the mountains.  Ships move very slowly given that a turn represents a month.

The French gained one hex but suffered relatively heavy losses, including 40 tanks and 40 aircraft. The Italians, on the other hand, lost more infantry and heavy tanks. However, Italian counterattacks inflicted almost no losses to the French forces and a raid by Italian airforce resulted in the loss of 140 aircraft, mostly light bombers I. These planes seem to be to weak to survive enemy fighters and will likely be removed from the front line units.

The Italian campaign goes on. Italian forces are taking heavy losses but they were able to defend Genoa and Turin and even reinforce these cities. Genoa has been shelled by the French Mediterranean Fleet, while a smaller force disembarked a regiment sized infantry unit near Rome. This unit was anihilated by our land forces. Meanwhile, another French naval unit was sunk to the last ship near Rome, however, the Italian surface forces did badly against them, losing a Battleship and two heavy cruisers in exchange for 4 destroyers and a old light cruiser. The newly formed torpedo bomber wings and Italian subs hunted the survivors. In the end, the French lost 12 destroyers, 1 armoured cruiser and 3 light cruisers.

Turn 4 sent.  France broke through the Alps and is now in Northern Italy.  Hope to start capturing cities soon.  Switzerland incorporated into France.  British and French fleets prowl on exposed Italian units.

The Italian army suffered terrible defeats last turn, so all the naval and air forces were commited to a suicidal attack against a British carrier group close to Rome. The results were far better than expected. At the cost of 60 aircraft, one cruiser and 2 destroyers, the Italian fleet decimated another British task force. This time, the enemy lost one Fleet carrier, two heavy cruisers, 60 enemy aircraft and 16 destroyers. Unfortunately, the two enemy dreadnoughts were able to flee. In the North. the Italian army also achieved a small victory. An attack against the French spearhead between Turin and Genoa resulted in the loss of 140 French tanks, while 4 mobile divisions were cut off. Two of these divisions lost essentially everything of their inventory, except for a few trucks and infantry guns. However, the situation is still too dangerous for the Italian army and we expect the enemy forces to break the (half) encirclement next turn.

Turn 5:

While western nations are struggling for superiority in Italy the Russian Empire has invaded Finland and Estonia. Tallinn was taken and only a small Estonian corps survived, being encircled at their last defence position at the Baltic coast. In Finland Helsinky was encircled and will fall next turn.

The end is near in the North Italian Front, we again inflicted heavy losses to French armour, and encircled two mobile divisions, but the defenders of Turin were greatly weakened and Genoa will probably fall next turn.....enemy fleets are avoiding the Southern Italian seas, after the catastrophic losses of the last two months.

Turn sent.  Decent turn as I am able to capture both Genoa and Turin this turn.  GB lands in Sicily and I am able to hit an Italian sub formation.  Expect a couple of big naval battles in the next few turns.  Also noticed that Germany incorporates Austria.

tweber isn´t telling the truth...his turn wasn´t "decent". The word devastating would be better, as the Italian Army lost about 25% of overall strenght (much more in artillery pieces)and there are no reserves to defend the industrial north. It´s game over for Italy, even thought we will survive for a few turns...Germany is alone now...

Turn 7 sent.  In the North, the French capture Milan and get Yugoslavia to join the war.  The British capture Palermo.  French and British fleets are now in position off Rome and Naples respectively.

Italy is lost. The Italian Navy launched an all out attack against the French Fleet near Rome. Both sides lost lots of destroyers and submarines, but Italy lost also a Battleship, a cruiser and hundreds of aircraft. Italian light warships also located a invasion fleet and sunk a transport but no troops were lost.

After some convincing, heavy diplomatic talks and a bit of pressure, the Bulgarians decide to join Turkey.
