Loading troops

Post by Major Problem »

I'm brand new to the game and have a list of problems controling the units effectively. But one that is driving me nuts is trying to get infantry and a transporter close enough for them to load up. Is this a bug or is there a knack to it ? One more while I'm at it... I noticed in the first training mission after closing in on the enemy as far as the tanks would allow they were still out of reach, what am I missing ? Any help will be greatly appreciated, thanks.

In SPWAW, troops must be in the same hex as the vehicle they are about to mount.

It is also necessary to check the carry capacity against the carry cost to be sure the vehicle can carry your troopers or weapon system.

To load more than one formation on a vehicle, always select the unit to be loaded before using the Load command or the vehicle will unload troops already on it.

That should get you started! Happy gaming.

Okay... lesson 1.... read the appropriate section of the manual before attempting the scenario.....

Or... if you're not the perfect student and can't wait to get into SPWAW...here's a short rundown over loading things...

1. The 2 units have to be in the same hex for one to be loaded on the other
2. To get 2 units in the one hex... click on one unit, press down SHIFT, and click on the hex in which the other unti is.... of course, you have to have enough movement points to do so...
3.Click on the unit you want to load
4. Press "L"
5. Click on the unit you want the first unit to be loaded onto.

Note that each unti has a carry cost, and carry capacity. You can only load a unit onto another if the carry cost of the first unit is less than or equal to the carry capacity of the unit you want to load it onto... (see... Maths wasn't totally useless!!!).... but you shouldn't have any problems with this in the tutorial....

Hope this helps
