Question on surrounding routed units (R)

I surrounded about 20 units with R on them, units which I had routed that turn. Next turn they all disappeared.

Looking at the first turn, I see that I had 30 soviet units destroyed. When 2nd axis turn started, I had 37 units destroyed.

However I had 12 -R- units surrounded within my supply lines.

First, are those 7 destroyed units in the beginning of turn 2 indeed 7 of the 12 R units that disappeared, and what the heck happened to the other 5 R units I had surrounded?

Have the soviets developed teleportation device so early in the war?

Have you checked the battle sites mode for any surrenders?

No, but there was no battles there.

Would they still show up there?
