This has to be a bug...

Post by Deathtreader »

Hi,

.......I hope.

2 bridge units with a total of 4 bridges between them are attached to the 914 Grenadier Regt which has orders to cross a river with no existing bridges. The game accepts orders for the regt to move across the river and creates a constuction task at the Regt HQ level for a bridge to be built at a crossing. The bridge units never respond to the build task and actually do nothing before the game ends. The HQ level build task keeps slipping by 30-40 min increments for the rest of the game.

The save file is attached. All you have to do is hit play.

Rob.

Dave must be on an extended walkabout in the outback - I haven't heard from him for a while. He will have to answer this and some of the other unanswered posts on this forum when he get's back.

Rest assured we are still toiling away in the data department whether he checks in or not.[;)]

Hi Arjuna,

From a few of your recent posts it would appear you may have a machine now available for bug hunting....... under that assumption, and as promised, I'm re-flagging this probable bug to your attention. It's the saved scenario attachment at the beginning of this thread.
Thanks!

Rob,

I took a look at your saved game and it's actually working as designed. CHeck out this screen dump. It shows the original order you gave the 914th to construct a bridge in the south west. But alas, there is no way for the force to cross over there without first building a bridge at the crossing in the north east, which it's engineers are merily doing. Once it finishes there it will then move across to its assigned objective.

Hi,

Wow..........what can I say? I ran that save of mine at least half a dozen times (with no bridges ever built over the course of the game -- just milling about) before I uploaded it.
Guess I better not put in for one of those beta tester vacancies.....false alarms won't help the cause. [:-]

Thanks for checking!

Is that in the new build with the fixed 'loops'?

Could the HQ endlessly failing to have coordinated things be why it was reported as U/S and is now working?

I just ran it, and saw the reported behaviour:
3.5FJ sitting on Roth, with a route to move to a reserve location 500m SE, tasked with building at Diekirch.
1.352 sitting on Gentingen, with a route to move to a reserve location 1200m East of Roth, tasked with building at Roth.

After 5 hours, neither has budged at all after the starting 'wiggle'. The Roth bridge is "building" but has no progress showing. Both Pioneers marked as 'moving' 'Dug-in'.

By the sounds of it - Fixed already, but not originally WAD.

You may be right. It might have been a movement issue that prevented it from getting to the first crossing. In any event it works now. I'm working my way through these reported issues and hope to get to the stage where we can test the second patch next week.
