USS Oglala it is and after repairing from damage at Pearl Harbor she was redesignated as an internal combustion engine repair ship which makes me wonder if she only fixed navy engines or fixed tank engines too since most american tanks used gasoline engines.

According to a blurb i found on the USS Mindanao (ARG-2) they "provided repair facilities for amphibious, patrol, and landing craft. "

i suspect they worked mainly on USN and USMC-type stuff, although maybe some DUKWs of US Army persuasion might have found a helping hand on occasion.

BTW - reading on the salvage of Oglala: she sank 2 more times after 7 Dec (for a total of 3), and almost a 4th... maybe they should have renamed her the USS YoYo since she was going up and down so much.
