Abandoned Ship Details, noob question

I have DW not the expansion. Is there a way to see what components make up abandoned ships that I recover. I'm just starting to get into the ship construction and want to be able to see how the found alien ships were constructed.

I have not run without expansion for a long, long time, but I don't think this is different.

Find the ship in the ship list. Either go to the list and sort/filter your way, or have the capital ship selected and double click its info box.

The lower left (? I am going by memory) part of the ship list should have an area focused on the selected ship where one tab is "components". You may also be allowed to click its design name to view the blueprint (in the normal info box on the map screen). The area in the ship list is where you can see components (which are damaged), cargo, which ships are docked on ships with docking ports, etc.

For me the double click to open the ship/base in list was non-obvious, and is a very, very nice function. For instance when you are bored and want to see the amount of goods carried by a freighter and such. Or have a quick glance at a space ports construction queue (with progress).

yes, it's the same in the vanilla as in the expansion also
you have an even faster way, just double click on the ship name in the info panel on the main map and you're there

Click the ship in the main window so it comes up in the info box, then click it's design name. Takes you to the ship design screen. Generally best not to fiddle with the design though and cancel out of it or your'll find if it's above your tech levels you won't be able to do anything to it.
