Just get to a black screen after video!

Hi bought the game about 3 months ago, loaded it onto my PC, starts up runs the video, then the video ends and i am left with a black message box with white writing and stops there!

If i hit escape when the video is running, i get the same thing, the black box with white writing saying checking C:\\Users\ my name, \Desktop\games\Play Commander-Europe at War.

For the life of me i can't play the game or get passed this point!
