1.03 beta 4: Random crashes on Operation Blue scenario

Post by BletchleyGeek »

Hi,

I'm playing an Operation Blue game on the Slitherine server and I'm getting random crashes when moving or selecting units belonging to the North Caucasus Front.

It's turn 3 - I'm unsure if that Front units are being released from their frozen status at the correct time. I can move them but after few moves I get a crash. Sometimes even getting the pop-up menu to appear causes a crash.

I have WiTE patched to 1.03 beta 4, but I'm unsure of what version my opponent is using. This looks to me as some inconsistency in scenario data between our versions.

I don't know if it helps but the my Slitherine username is miquel.ramirez and my opponent's gaxsax.

Same happened to me in 1942-1945 scenario, several crashes when toying with Soviet units on the shore of the Black Sea (probably North Caucasus front too).

Crashes were random enough so that I didn't report them. Nothing very precise or 100% repeatable. I don't have any save files I was just messing around on turn one of the scenario, but there were several of them (crashes), enough to raise alarm...

Same here.
Playing Operation Blue as soviets in a PBEM. We upgraded to beta 4 and during the 3 turns since, the game has crashed at least once each turn, always while scrolling or moving the mouse or units down around (or south) of Krasnodar.

This time, after it crashed, I started saving during the turn, and got a save right before the crash. I can keep making the game crash from this file by moving units south of Krasnodar. I do not know if it is a map data issue, but it seems more related to units assigned to the "lime green" soviet command down there. In fact, go to hex X120, Y123. Move unit 3486 (236th Rifle) north. If that doesn't crash it move to the units next to that hex.

I think we know it and fixed it. New beta should be out soon. If you passed turn 1 you may roll back to beta 3 to avoid those crashes. Sorry for inconvenience.

Thanks Helpless. I think we will better wait for the new patch. Do we need to restart the game or it is just a code issue so patching will fix it?

This one is a code issue. No need to restart.
