Unit Background Mods

I like the new 3.4 graphics very much, but I still don't care for the 3D unit background images. Has anyone done a mod for this yet ?

If not, what files can I customize to render the backgrounds more easily readable ? Say grey or black or anything really, just so the 3D stuff goes away.

I think there's an option in the top-left menu somewhere where you can change text contrast. At the highest setting, the 3D icon in the unit panel will disappear...
