Orzel + Goblin + Mines = DEATH!!

Post by Goblin »

Orzel and I are having a rematch. NO SKI TROOPS this time, I have good infantry. Orzel has ANZAC, and I took the Japanese.

Guess what? Its an ASSAULT!! I'm going after him hammer and tongs and knee mortars. He gets to use his beloved mines!!

12220 points me, 6220 him. I declined the computers 3:1 advantage. We are using one of WBW excellent maps. IIRC the title is Pacific-Populated. Its a big 'un.

June, 1942.The visibility is in the teens(17), weather is decent, and its early morning. The forecast calls for the weather to change to rain. Raining 150mm rounds, that is!!:D

Aussie give it up! We treat you like kings.

Goblin- A Goblin is aggressive:mad:

I checked weather, and its listed as a sandstorm?! It also lists our location as North Africa. The map is not a jungle map, but not desert either.

It would appear that some Yobbo's from Japan are looking to nick us of our island paradise!

Not bloody likely...at least not without one Hell of a barney! Bring on those rice paper tanks of yours Mate...even those surplus 2 pounders the King and Queen sent us should brew those heaps nicely.

Well, time to stop watering the horse and go and tell our uninvited guests to shove off.

:D :D :D :D :D

They're there....

eating their c-rations and watching the fireworks you're popping off all over the place.

My boys are aweful upset about all the smoke you're creating...it's spoiling the view they have of the beautiful landscape.

Air action?....oppss...I forgot about that. Or did I? Hmmm, can't remember whether or not I made plans to deal with little men from Japan raining from the skies or not....let me think...

Two pounders? I think you need to recheck your scales! Those are six pounders in them there forts, as my Railcar crews discovered in heroic action.

We have now spotted an ANZAC fort, and soon we will be fighting these cowards hand to hand, like men! Come out, coward!

now we have to put down our beers and ready the guns....one of our diggers done jumped the gun sort of speak and brewed up a Japanese AC.
Blimey...now we see all these bands of little men running about with junlge leaves and grass strapped to their uniforms...like watching a garden come to life and march about...there's one, two, three...four...hmmm.
No worries Mate...prime the ole Vickers....get ready for a nick I suppose.

Huh?!? WTF?

Anyways, still no action except for the glorious fight that one of our Railcars put up against that pillbox. Still, with a warrior's trained senses, we feel the enemy watching us... (Ok, we smell beer, same thing;) )

not open fire prematurely...so come a little closer so my lads can greet you proper like. :)

With all that arty you're raining all over God's Creation one would think you're looking for something.....like minefields perhaps? :p We'll Mate, the good news is that they're out there...you'll just have to find them... the hard way I hope.

Ok, back to our beers...it seems our friends the Japanese are busy playing behind the smoke screen they've laid down...maybe we'll add some of our own fireworks to that cloud....see if we can plow up some ground too. :D

A lot of smoke...

Post by Orzel Bialy »

and some major potholes from all the spring plowing Goblin is conducting...but no shots exchanged between our two forces, outside of those fired that polished off that AC.

We continue to eat our rations and drink our beer...amazing how much earth Goblin is moving about with those 150mm's of his...they are cascading shells down like raindrops...and we sit here watching them.

A massive smoke cloud to the south catches my eye...and I see a couple units disappear behind or within it. Tempting to call in arty there...but why give away my gun positions? Nah, we decide to wait it out...see if it's a bluff or and effort at mis-direction.

So, despite the taunts of the Japanese to come out and fight...we know it's much better to sit tight and let them come to us. It'll take more than words to get me to abandon my planned defense.

D@mned Japanese Artillery....

Post by Orzel Bialy »

We sit and watch the cloud of smoke the Japanese are laying down grow larger and larger...smoke shells blend in with HE explosions and create a wall of smoke that cuts the whole area in half.
What bands of these buggers we have seen disappear into the cloud...and are yet to re-surface. We can, however, hear the broken english taunts they yell out...telling us to come out and fight. Blimey...what a bunch of yobbo's.
As bad as we want to call back to them...we don't for fear of giving away our positions. We figure it be best for them to find our positions when we open fire on them.:)
Suddenly one arty shell lands close to our trench....and it knocks me off the sandbag wall I was sitting on watching the fireworks from. The medics have to attend to my hand...a severely sprained wrist...and it's my d@mned drinking hand!!!!
That does it.....now I'm p*ssed! Those bloody buggers are going to really get it when they finally do decide to come out and play!!!

We have found the lazy Anzac troops! We have also found their cowardly mines! The Anzac troops ran away after only a brief firefight with two small squads of Imperial infantry. Run, cowards!

Our excellent soldiers have also spotted an enemy tank. A Valentine. Appropriate measures have been taken.

Finally...

Post by Orzel Bialy »

The Japanese decide to show themselves...they emerge from the smoke screen and fire on one of our units. There are losses on both sides...but our men have been ordered to fall back when confronted with superior numbers.
Elsewhere along the line we exchange fire with a couple more enemy units that show themselves. Lure them deeper into the maze defense before we spring the...er, never mind.
Outside of this there are the usual continous arty barrages to contend with, but so far the damage they have inflicted has be small.
We fear no evil, do your best...bring it on!

The croc hunters are enjoying their bar-bee, yes? They sit in their bunker, eating the shrimp, about to put another on the bar-bee, and a 150mm shrimp crashes through the roof and detonates. HULLO! The Japanese are here! Could we trouble you to stop partying and start fighting?

Elsewhere, one of our fine engineering vehicles throws some Aussies on the bar-bee. WHOOOOSH! 7 casualties, plus one on the splash! They actually dropped their beers! Australian for 'OH CRAP!'.

We decided to end the light barrage, and start hitting them hard, to wake them up and bring home the reality of the situation. Lots of casualties!

BANZAI!!
