Money back from Gary

Post by bluckster »

GG W in the East

Does not run in Win 7 despite following the stringent steps in http://www.matrixgames.com/support/faq.asp?id=2.

How do I get my money back, as I do not have time for this nonsense (what year is this 2011?).

Odd I've got a Win 7 64 bit system, I have had no dramas playing the game at all or any other game, as a matter of fact! It's probably your rig configuration not the game.

War in the East doesn't run in Win 7? Must have dreamed all the turns I've played then...[8|]

Runs fine on Win 7x64, but obviously not for him. So he has a valid concern. However, he should expose his problem at the appropriate place (WitE Tech Support) and beyond that it's common to ask for a refund in a more courteous manner.

Hi Bluckster,

It does work fine on Windows 7. Are you running it from the Game Menu "Play" link? That FAQ is very general advice. Please post what the exact issue you are seeing is and give us a chance to help you.

Regards,

Hi all,

What exact problem you have?

What is your PC?

Did you restart your PC after you installed WitE?

Did you try running WitE with "Run as Administrator"?

It runs just fine in Windows 7 for seemingly everybody else, including me. I'm afraid the problem is at your end... but don't sweat too much, EVERY game hits some compatibility problems with some systems, it's inevitable when there are literally millions of possible hardware and software combos. If you provide details of exactly what happens together with a dxdiag I'm sure I'm sure the Matrix folks will be able to help you get up and running.

I'm sure he knows by now that others are not having problems running in Windows 7. That is of no help with his particular problem. If you've ever had problems getting something to run in Windows then I'm sure you can understand his frustration.

To the OP. It will help to have your system configuration when you have a problem running something on a Windows platform. That will help tech support zero in on whether or not it is a driver problem or some other issue.

I think the point people are trying to reiterate is that the problem is from his end. The Matrix people, I'm sure, are glad to help, if they can, so the statement that it does not run in Win 7 needs to be contradicted.

And exactly how many times does anyone think it's necessary to do that? Eventually it becomes a face slapping excercise, as though to say, "Hey stupid, it works for everyone. You must be an idiot".

Let's have every forum member who has Windows 7 post how it works for them. That will accomplish what?

Perhaps eventually get him to realize that rude posts encourage people to slap you instead of help you?

And yes, it works for me in Win 7 as well [:D]
