Patch won't start after hitting play

New patch will not run for me.
Loaded without apparent problems and shortcut and auto-run both seem to start fine. When I click play I get the options at the to ribbon but the center of the screen nevers shows up. Afer a few seconds the screen disappears and I wind up back at the play button. I can never select options, choose old/new buttons etc. Tried it with every computer version. I run Vista.

Happened to me too, mate. Do the following:
Backup your Opart.ini file and your scenario and saved game folders. De-install ALL the different TOAW folders you might have. Re-install using the versions from 3.2.x to 3.4.201, I renamed all the Opart3.exe files to their version number in order to play the diferent versions of PBEM games in progress. e.g. Opart 3.4.201.EXE and so on. That's in case you want to keep the version for running PBEM matches.
