Timetanker Advance vs Gary defend
Well folks it was bound to happen. Yes I to have joined the DAR group. With so generous an opponent I could not object to being a STAR.
Current situation German(Timetanker) Advance something like 9500 points. Russian(Gary) delay 8200 points (see didn't I tell you he was generous). Large map. 10-15% artillary, 3 air strikes each, no prelaid mines, visibility 20. after July 1943.
Timetanker set up the game so he knows more of the specifics.

Come commrade
Did you not consider the fact that a mobile defense is the best defense. I have leaned the ways of mobil fluent warfare and you have learned the leason of leaving tanks out in the open unprotected by smoke. Soon you will learn what it is like to have an empty Vodka bottle and three pretty girls that do not find you attractive.

Oh yeah....
Yep, got surprised on that one. But, smoke is not a magic shield and at times it is a dead giveaway.
So you believe in not entrenching your defenses eh? Well be prepared to get run over by then.
Like it says at the bottom of this posting....You will only be exhausted when it comes time to meet your maker.
Some action between Recon Units in the south. And, a few light ATG guns got lucky against that Stug.

Come Comrade
Is that the best you can do. Your first attack is now a pathetic shell. My air force has discovered your artillary park. And your Panzer crews jump out of their tanks the first time that they get hit.
This must be the Infamous Timetanker Von Chicken leading this advance.
I am not sure how many of you units will not be reporting back to you, you see us Ivans have trouble counting above ten, but it is quite a few. Now if you would hold that Panther still for a few more minutes.

Do Tell.....
I have to admit you know how to hide. And, your AtG's in the north are very accurate. But, your advice about how to spot an unseen unit that is firing upon you is first rate!
Boy if you get this excited in the first rounds of the game. You are going to be one depressed Military Genius by the end.
Really don't need to see you to know where you are.

Comrade Timetanker
I sometimes am to free with my advice. But since it was good advice and it makes my opponets better, which makes for a better battle.
Comrade you have some very nice tanks and I would like to borrow a few of them but I will have to wait to capture them. Should not be long now though. A few more minutes and I should be able to capture a few of them.
Comrade, I think that you are in for a difficult haul. I will keep you informed of your miniscule progress and inform you when you should surrender.

No excuses here guys. I will catch up.
But, I am an extremely patient player. (I can resend turns quickly when need be) But, I have my hands full with you two and it's like holding onto slippery eels. It takes a bit of effort to beat the likes of you two yahoos. :p
Notice I didn't use the "I'm an Old Man Dodge"?

Commrade Timetanker
I did not think that it was possible for Russians to give the Germans leasons in armored warfare. But if you keep insisting on leaving your tanks out in the open unprotected by smoke, I am obliged to take advantage of you. Please give my condolences to the poor men of thoughs two Panther D tanks that ran into my SU-57's APRC rounds. It is a shame I had to destory them. I would have liked to capture them but this will do. It is terrible about thoughs poor 88's what are there three and none of them will be of any use soon. It is a shame to think how badly you have botched this advance. If I had done so bad with my defense I would have gotten an NVDK bullet in my head. You will probably end up as a kitchen hand after this command.
Now down to some good advice. When advanceing if you have high visibility it is important to block the enemy's line of sight. Put up a wall of smoke with your artillary. This will keep your enemy from being able to use his ATG's from a long range and get good shots of opportunity. This will also allow you to get close to the enemy without running though a wall of steel.
Remember a smart opponent will never show you his armor reserve until he has to or it is to late.
Lastly be more patient. Move a few fast recon units forward to get an idea on where the enemy is and move the rest at a slower pace. The worst thing to happen is to end up moving your main force forward and have all your recon destroyed before you get there.

Hmmmm...How to respond?
Yes, you are correct I did not pop a whole bunch of smoke and I should have moved more patiently with only a portion of my recon. Yep.
Not much to say here except that "you one sneaky unconventional guy".
And, I truely will not make that mistake again. Now if I just had a few more Smoke Rounds laying around somewhere.
Ach Tu Lieber! I guess we may just as well go back to Germany Hans......We are all out of Smoke Rounds, Schultz!

Commrade Timetanker
Please have a seat. Would you like something to drink or some food. No, no, no do not cry. Us Soviets are not barbarians. Your men will be treated well. Now would you like to take a look at my battle map. Come see and we will discuss tactics and have a few drinks.
The German commander sighs, sholders hung low sloching in his chair walks over to the wet bar and downs a few stiff drinks. Eyes red from smoke and battle he joins the Russian commander in the battle room.
You see commrade you should have disbursed your artillary park much farther apart. Spreading it out does cause it to be out of contact more often but does not make it suseptible to the artillary barage tactic that I used on it. Which may I be so bold to suggest made it out of contact for a long time. Also you had all of thoughs Motor Cycle units. What better unit to pop smoke at the beginning of the battle in a # of different areas and then move forward quickly. This would have confused my spotters and I would not have been able to find your artillary park so quickly.
Now I see towards the end of the battle you were starting to use your smoke. You should have used it right at the beginning right from the get go. If I had been you I would have placed smoke in front of the whole hill that I was positioned on.
Leaving the tanks out in the open and moving to quickly we have already talked about.
I think that covers it. Would you like some dinner. My girl Helga cooks up a mean stew.
............................Germany..............Soviet
Men ....................... 317....................59
Artillary ......................4 .....................0
Soft vehicles...............3 .....................0
APC...........................13 .....................0
AFV ..........................10 .....................0
Final score ............. 213 ...................6947
I am not sure but I think a bunch of the Victory points came from Timetanker requesting reinforcements.

No Reinforcements...
I didn't request reinforcements. Just didn't move fast enough. And, your Arty was incredible.
Your advice to use the Motorcycle crews to spread smoke is one of those ideas that we all know but sometimes just don't do....it's too simple. Argh!!
This is definitely an example where Artillery won the day.
I very much want that re-match. This time with the correct point spread.
Good game Gary!

Thanks Gary
With that sizeable defeat he's going to take it out on me.
