Transparency shipset issues... HELP!

Post by Caesar_Augustus »

OK, take this as an SOS (or an older CQD)!!!

I'm using (well, trying to use, that is [:D] ) the gimp 2.6 png editor programme,
but am having a rather difficult time getting the transparency layer (alpha channel)
for shipsets right...

I'm getting close, and I've actually been able to do it once, but seemingly have forgotten how to do it...
I cannot for the life of me get it right, I'm missing something here, so...

CQD, CQD, CQD, SOS, SOS, SOS... Help, Igard (or anybody else that can get me out of my ignorance)

Thanks much! [&o]

Oh really? [X(] I must not have been around back then.

But looking in the Internet, I have found a way, YAY! [8|]

Still, Mr. Igard might give us all some useful and Romulan-like tips... ahem, ahem [*cough, cough*] without the ale, of course, hehe [:D]

Well, Caesar my stocks of Romulan Ale have been plundered! A Starfleet operations officer with very pale skin and a beard was spotted by the Centurion on guard down in the cargo bay, but was able to escape with my entire supply!

Glad you figured this out yourself. There are a couple of ways of doing it that I know of :-

To create a new image from scratch, go to file > new, set the sizes of the canvas, then select Advanced Options > Fill with > Transparency.

Or you can open your file, go to Layer > Transparency > Add Alpha Channel.

Good luck, and if you have any more questions, just ask. There are a whole bunch of forum users here that can answer, it just so happens I'm always checking the forums. [:)]

Hmmm... a Starfleet operations officer with a very pale skin and a beard... took your ample supply of Romulan ale... now, what do you know about that... who can that be, I wonder? [:D] Surely not all for himself!

Indeed, if asked, I seem to remember a young ensign, later most promising cadet, (and then later again lieutenant?), stating that "we're from Starfleet; we don't lie", so... [8|]

OK, here's another question...

With Windows Paint, it's rather easy to colour with pixels, but for some odd reason,
I am unable to do it with Gimp [:(]. I guess Paint is more intuitive... or that
my imperial greatness and magnificence is, ummm, waning... oh my! [:-]

With GIMP you need to be zoomed in quite close then edit your brush size until you find the one that is only 1 pixel. It takes a little time but when you find it once it's easily remembered.

You might be able to alter your brush size using the bracket keys, I do this all the time with brushes so you don't have to keep selecting from a drop down or typing in a brush size [;)]

Darn it....I bet he also might have stolen specs about the Romulan cloaking device as well.
We'll never catch him now! You know that android was already fast! Protect your Gold-Pressed Latinum everyone!

I knew Igard shouldn't have given him that darn beard! [:D]

You'd think so, wouldn't you? But, no, it's only the Ale he was after. He's an android, where does he put it all? [:D]

Nice try attempting to cover for the android, tj. I know it was him.

His silence on the matter is clear evidence of his guilt. [:-]

I bet he's trying to remove his 'emotion chip' so he can keep a
straight face when he finally surfaces (probably burping at that)!

Well, let's not dwell on the past....I saw Elliot saying that 1.5.0.6 was coming out soon; yap, the next one after 1.5.0.5. Go figure

Okay, how would anyone know a stab in the head from a Romulan Ale hangover? [:D][:'(]

well, let's get all csi...in case of a stab the wound is from outside to the inside. In case of a hangover it's the other way around.
that is, if ehsumrell1 does not pull the skin of our faces over our scalps in which case....clearly i've got the hangover [:)]

Or it could be your beard is pulled too tight... [:'(]
