With the first turn grab

Post by Gary Tatro »

The Russians take all victory hexs. The Russian commander follishly thinking that the war might end if he took all the objectives in the first five minutes proceeded to do just that. To his shagrin and shame all that he heard was the German commander laughing in the distance.

A MC unit hearing the laughter proceeded to follow it to its source. Riding along enjoying the breeze the group of bikers are enjoying the evening only to come up over the rise to have their shorts filled with excriment. Seeing in front of them three full companies of armor. PZIV, Tigers, and Stugs filled their eyes as sh*t filled their britches. Well you can bet that these poor Harley look alikes quickly high taled it out of there. Leaving behind a smell that only could be described as some new form of Chemical warfare.

Col Tatrovsky we have found the enemy. You do not happen to have a change of shorts back at HQ do you?

Kol. K swore to himself as the predawn quiet was shattered by the distant roar of Russian motorcycles and gunfire. A runner had just reported that the Russian scouts had blundered into the area where his kampfgruppe was assembling for a counterattack to seal off the latest Russian penetration. The element of surprise had been lost and mortar fire was disrupting the offensive before it could get under way.

So much for my plan to set up well to the rear to avoid any opening barrages.

Running motorcycles the entire length of the board was the last thing I expected:eek:

No one listens to poor Goblin. I warned all of you about Gary. What is it, the name? Gary Tatro. He must be a nice guy with that screen name. I'll play him and ignore little Goblin's rantings!

Hey Gary, maybe you should change your screen name to 'Widowmaker', or 'Flaming Deathmachine', or 'Coffins are Us'?

Then maybe people will listen when Goblin warns them!

:D :D :D :D ;)

Goblin- A Goblin still has Lehr nightmares;)

Your counter attack has been blunted even before it begain. And your troops are suppressed and disillusioned. Now because of your mistake they are going to have to travel the full length of the map under artillary fire. Just surrender now and I have some nice Vodka and Krumpets for them. Hmmm.:)

Am I to understand that in the opening turn of the game a MC squad was able to run the length of the board with out getting fragged?

How do you do that?

Acctually on set up I put three MC units on the roads as far forward as I could place them. On my turn I ran them for the Victory hexes. Not finding any opposition I took all the victory hexs with nair a scratch. When my opponet went on his turn. I did not see any movement. Well since Soviet MC units are like 15 points each I said what the hell and went looking for his force. On turn two I ran my MC's the as far as I could and look what I found a whole nest full of Germans almost at the end of his map. And by accident I kind of bumped into it and got them and the Queen German all mad and riled up. Now they are out to sting me. But I got my 120mm bee swatters out and started swatting away. And that is where we will go back to our story.

Kol. K. grimaced as heavy mortar shells screamed onto his positions. His aide reported to him, " Herr Oberst, we have run down the motorcyclists and destroyed them. I will have the prisoners brought to you for interrogation as soon as we can sober them up."

"Very good, Hans. Now lets get moving, we are already behind schedule!"

Scanned the reports that were coming in. Tanks, tanks, tanks, tanks, tanks, tanks, tanks, tanks, and more tanks. God he thought, how could they have fielded so many without Headquarters at least having an idea that they were out there.
With the terran as it was he was going to have a hard time dealing with so many. If not imposible.
With the learned leason that 2 Russian tanks were needed for every one German he new he was way way out numbered in the tank battle. His artillary was slowing them down but, his only hope was that there were many reports of few infantry sightings. Well if I can use this to my advantage somehow I can turn the tide of the battle. Hmmm I must think on this.

Kampfgruppe "K" advances slowly through sporadic mortar fire. Two Soviet patrols probing our lines are scattered and a PzIV shoots up a motorcycle patrol, sending it fleeing eastward at top speed.

Forward recon radio back to head quarters.

Post by Gary Tatro »

NOW! NOW! NOW!
Operations "First Strike" was launched. Tanks of the Soviet Socialists Republic moved forward in mass out of the smoke into fire lanes of the German tanks.
Two T34's explode at German APRC shells rip through there hulls as contact is made. Quickly followed by tank rounds returning back and forth. The Soviet tanks given specific travel lanes and special orders engage and quickly fire off 2 or 3 rounds and quickly retreat back into the smoke, leaving behind six burning hulks that used to be the pride of the German Tank Brigade.
Col Tatrovsky breathed a sigh of relief. The lead eliments of the Brigade had been crushed, six German tank destoryed with the loss of only 2 Russian tanks, but now that the trap had been sprung what would be the Germans responce. Tatrovsky waited ploted his artillary and worried. His tank force was still out numbered and the German Tigers had not engaged yet!

Kol. K. scowled as the latest reports came in. Six Panzers destroyed by Russian tanks lurking in the morning fog and smoke. And reports of more cyclists marauding behind our lines.

"Ach, these Russians are learning well. This does not bode well for us.

Read the report. Many menuvers going on and the Germans are moving their Tigers up. Reports of SU-57's taking some shots at a Tiger and whatching the shots bounce off. Now if I only had some Air he thought.

Kampfgruppe K paused to regroup. A patrol spoted a T-34 lurking in the smoke and a pair of PzIVh inch their way over the ridge. The lead tank comes under fire and halts, while his wingman takes a shot and misses. The T-34 slews it's turret to face the new threat and fires a shot wide. The lead tank takes aim and puts a 75 through the turret, setting off a chain of explosions and causing the surviving crewmen to bail.

Elsewhere, we shoot up more cyclists and take casualties from incoming mortar fire. Our divisional 150mm batteries respond by bombarding the length of the smokescreen.

Lead recon units drop their binoculers

Post by Gary Tatro »

and shake their heads as they look at the smoking hulk of the T-34 just destoried. They watch with grim satisfaction as the two panzers retreat back behind the hill. You will get yours he thought. Just then the 122mm artillary rounds started landing in the whole area behind the ridge. He smiles to himself as he hears the explosions knowing all the units hiding behind that ridge. As the artillary subsides he radio's into HQ. "Launch Operation Second Strike NOW"
Coloniel Tatrovsky gives the order, SU-57's and T34's race for the ridge, overcoming and destoring the poor disoriented and routed defenders there. Coloniel five panzers, 2 halftracks, platoon of engineers, and a mobile AA gun destoried. NO LOSSES.
Flushed with the success Tatrovsky orders the remaining SU-57's and T-34's to engage the South Ridge. Only to quickly learn once again that charging Tiger tanks is allways a losing proposition. 2 T-34's and an SU-57 destoried for only one panzer, Tatrovsky swore he should have know better.

And the attack continues

Post by Gary Tatro »

The Gemans not out of it yet move foward on the bottom of the map and move thier Tigers up to deal with the puny Russian tanks. The Germans take out a couple of SU-57's and assualt a number of tanks without success. The Russian's respond with a few assualts of thier own, but mainly spend most of the few presious moments consolidating thier new position and machine gunning infantry. Battle is at its Key eliment and the next few minutes will decide the fate of this small area in the Ukraine.

We finally get our offense going. I kill 2 T-34 and 4 SU-57's (these things are everywhere!! ) while losing a PzIV.

Much to my surprise, a suppressed 57mm ATG wakes up and nails a Tiger I with a frontal hit:mad:

If I can hold out until my reinforcements arrive (IF they ever get here:( ), I may be able to salvage something out of this.

Comrade you call that a artillary barage

Post by Gary Tatro »

Ha I laugh at your artillary barage and run up to your Tiger tank and OH assualt it to slag. Then I turn and assult your Stug-52 to slag then I come in an blast the last Stug-52 to slag. "Slag" is the only word in the Russian language for destory. :D Who said Russian Guard infantry was no good.
Then I spread my love to some of your AA Guns and Engineers and SS infantry.
Battle is getting viscous. Close in fighting with heavy artillary droping everywhere. Recon is sh*t for all the smoke.

Come, come commrade you must see reason. You can not hold out long against this assualt. You are down to your last two Tigers and a handful of PZVI's. Give up now and we will spare your men.
